Description
Hello!
My name is Victoria, I'm from Canada and currently living in Edinburgh, Scotland. I graduated a year ago from university with a degree in English literature and am using WorkAway to experience new ways of life, different cultures, and learn new skills.
I have a special interest in food (i.e food production and homesteads), cooking, and, specifically for my next trip to BC, Canada, I want to learn about Indigenous cultures.
I love reading, watching movies, working out, being with friends and family, and being outside. I'm a pretty calm person and love getting to know people and hanging out as well as time alone.
The only thing I must share with any potential hosts before I stay is that I have coeliac disease and because of this cannot eat gluten. This means anything containing wheat, rye, or barley. Initially this may seem like a restrictive diet but it actually means I just cannot eat most processed food. I still eat fruit, vegetables, meat, fish, dairy products, oats, potatoes, lentils, beans and much more! My diagnosis is recent so cross contamination is not a problem (I can use the same knives, cutting boards, and toasters as everyone else). I find my diet makes me a better candidate for WorkAway as I now place much more importance on food and learning about where it comes from. Since my diagnosis I am even more motivated to learn about farming, permaculture, and different ways of life that allow me to be more connected to food and where it comes from.
Thanks for reading my description!! Don't hesitate to contact me with any questions.Interests

More details about your skills
For the last four years I have been at university studying English literature and working for the student newspaper there.
I am a trained barista and have worked in hospitality in cafes and pubs as a waitress since I was fifteen so I have great interpersonal skills and work ethic. Using WorkAway I have volunteered on farms and lifestyle blocks. I now have experience caring for horses, cows, chickens, ducks, and vegetable gardens.
I'm very open-minded and after four years of university I am ready to learn any and all hands-on and life skills such as farming, gardening, construction, decoration (I like to draw in my free time), and housework.
I can ensure enthusiasm and a great attitude whenever I complete tasks.Age
