Hello!
My name is Valdemar and I come from Denmark. I am a 21-year-old political science student who loves to seek out new experiences, peoples and cultures!
I have traveled to numerous places doing volunteer work and couch-surfing in countries like Nepal, the US and Japan. This has been both with established non-profit organizations like DanChurchAid and privately through workaway. These experiences have been very formative me, as it has allowed me to meet, and work alongside, many wonderful people from all parts of the world, which I am incredibly thankful for. These experiences have only further motivated me to get out into the world and make a difference, as well as forging new friendships and gaining a greater understanding of other cultures and the world in general!
Outside of traveling I am very passionate about volunteering - which I have also done at home in Denmark - and I also spend a lot of time studying history, reading literature and being there for my friends. I am currently trying (and possibly failing) to write stories of my own and I am also dabbling in painting/sketching on the side. I am very much still a beginner, but I love to challenge myself in this way and hopefully learn something along the way - which is why I am here!Interests

More details about your skills
Outside of workaday I have experience as a volunteer and climate ambassador for the danish non-profit charity NGO DanChurchAid. I have also worked in their telemarketing department. I also have some experience as a retail-worker and house-cleaner.
Through workaway I have acquired a good bit of experience. I have worked at a front desk for a hostel in Costa Rica, where there was a high standard of cleanliness and customer service. I have volunteered for a family near Santa Rosa, California, where I did gardening, cleaning and generally helped with various projects. I have also volunteered for an NGO based in Dinuba, California, where I worked with food processing, packaging and distribution, as well as repairs, gardening, power tools etc. Lastly I have been a volunteer for a Retreat Center in Northern California, where I worked in a large kitchen, vegetable garden and did a wide range of forestry work, including cutting down trees and clearing brush in the beautiful forests south of Fort RossAge

What else ...
As mentioned I greatly enjoy reading, particularly literature, as it helps broaden my horizons both on an intellectual and emotional level. I really enjoy taking long walks, particularly in nature. The sights, fresh air and exercise helps me think and relax. I am also quite passionate about the environment and various social and political issues. I generally just love to make new experiences, memories and friends, as this gives a lot of meaning to life.
