  • Description

    Hello!

We are Andy and Aden. We are both 22 years old and we come from The Czech Republic. In 2021 we graduated from an art focused highschool where I studied music and Aden studied visual arts.

After graduation, Aden attended a year long language course to improve his english. In this period he also worked part time in an arts and crafts supply store. Then he spent a year taking part in an education program for bookbinding, where he learned to restore old books and also make new books and notebooks from scratch. This year he started attending university where he studies art and education.

He loves to paint, draw, create from clay and really just about anything you could think of. Sewing, modeling, painting on various materials, bookbinding... He also takes photos and videos and edits them, and he is an amateur tattoo artist. Overall he is just a really creative person and can usually find an iteresting, creative way of making anything he sets his mind to happen. He is very good with animals and also has some gardening experience. He occasionally gardens at home and he used to volunteer at a horse ranch.

    ------------------------------

I attended a carpentry course after finishing highschool. Woodworking is something I like and I'm interested in, but despite being officially a classified carpenter now, I really wouldn't say that there is that much I know about it. The course was sadly focused more on really outdated technigues and a lot of the time we weren't even explained those properly and were left to find out some things through trial and error. For a long time this made me feel really unmotivated to continue working with wood and I would like to get back to it now. Even though I didn't learn as much as I would hope so, I did learn something during this year and I would definitely like to build off of those skills and put them to good use.

I spent the next year attending another course, this time in pastry baking. Baking, cooking and working in the kitchen is generaly something I've liked from a young age and it's one of the few things I feel confident doing completely on my own. During my studies I started working part time at a vegan restaurant and later on that became my full time job. I just quit recently and I'm now hoping to start working on living the life I've been wanting to live since graduation and never actually had the courage to take the first step - close to nature, free to do what makes me happy and what has a meaning to me rather than what I feel I should be doing to make someone else happy.

Apart from woodworking and cooking, I enjoy other handy and creative activities, from fixing things around the house to painting and embroidery, and I don't mind cleaning either. I try to stay active - in the past through indoor climbing and going to the gym, now through running and jumping :). Working with animals and gardening is also something I love doing and have experience with - I garden a lot with my grandma and I volunteer at a local animal shelter.

    -------------------------

We're looking to stay with open-minded people who have similar mindset to ours. We are vegan and a queer couple - that's just something I want to put out there in case anyone would have a problem with that for whatever reasons :).

Of course we want to learn new skills and offer a helping hand through workaway, but we're also here to have fun, make connections and good memories. Mutual respect is really important to us and we just want the exchange to be a good experience for everyone included.

This year we might be travelling together or I might be travelling alone. or perhaps we would come togehter and Ada might leave a little sooner than me :)

  • More details about your skills

One of my biggest hobbies is cooking. I love to cook for others and learn new recipes. This past years I've been learning to cook fully vegan meals. I love to bake, too. I've made several custom birthday cakes and even a wedding cake, at school I learned how to make a lot of typical desserts like choux, puff pastry and so on

I do have some basic knowledge of various handcrafts. I can make simple things out of wood (I'm talking shelves, above-ground flower beds, fences.. At school last year I made two stools and nightstands with the assistance of our teacher, I'm not a hundred percent sure I could do it again on my own though :D ) I paint a bit, i like sewing and embroidering, carving... I haven't really mastered any of those skills yet, but those are things I've tried and want to improve at.

I've also been studying Swedish for the past two years, so I'd love it if we could practice together while I'm visiting! Some more of my hobbies would be climbing, music and reading.

I can't really say there's anything I'm super good at, but whatever I do, I always try my best and I hope to learn and improve my skills more and more. If what you're looking for is a person who enjoys challenges and values all the advice given to them, I am your guy :)

Ada is an artist at heart. He can really create just about anything. Paper, wood, clay, fabric, you name it, he can probably make something cool out of it. When he starts a project, he's always very determined to finish it and to do so to the best of his abilities. He also has experience with photography, video and editing and making digital art. He is also really into makeup and can come up with some pretty cool looks :).

This year he learned a lot about bookbinding, he can create notebooks, sketchbooks, boxes etc.

We both have basic experience in gardening and animal care. Neither of us is a professional but we do this at home and can definitely make ourselves useful around animals and the garden.
