Description
🌍 About Me: A Global Educator with a Heart for Culture, Craft, and Connection
Hola, I’m Timea — a 15 year veteran teacher, global citizen, and lifelong learner originally from Romania and now based in rural Pennsylvania, USA, near the shores of Lake Erie. I have experience with working with children from toddler age to adults. I have current background searches and clearances to provide, especially if a workaway assignments involves working with children.
My journey into travel and cultural exchange started long before I packed my bags — it’s been growing through every Spanish lesson I teach, every craft I create, and every connection I make with students and communities worldwide. After immersing myself in Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Mexico through fellowships this past year and study abroad, I realized my passion goes beyond just teaching Spanish or math or other subjects — it’s about building bridges between people and places. Now, with a fall sabbatical and a flexible career stage ahead, I’m ready to lend a hand, learn from you, and share what I can offer.
I’m especially drawn to projects that involve education, sustainable development, cultural exchange, gardening, and arts & crafts. I’m also excited to explore projects that blend hands-on work with community building — whether it’s helping with language tutoring, working in eco-projects, creating cultural workshops, or supporting local festivals. As a future career - I am interesting in learning more about Instructional Design
✨ What I Can Share and Offer
Languages: Fluent in Spanish, English, and Romanian (happy to tutor!)
Crafts & Creativity: Love leading workshops on paper crafts, mosaics, and upcycling projects
Gardening & Outdoor Work: Grew up in vineyard country, so I don’t mind getting my hands dirty
Education & Instructional Design: Experienced at building creative, learner-centered projects. I would love to learn more ID skills.
Global Citizenship & Sustainable Development: Certified in Earth Charter education (UPEACE Costa Rica)
Cooking & Sharing Meals: Always happy to cook a simple, hearty meal — and swap recipes
Tech & Admin Help: Can assist with online content, writing, or educational program design
✈️ Why I’m Drawn to Specific Places
Wherever I go, I look for places that value cultural heritage, sustainability, and community spirit. I’m especially excited to revisit Latin America - especially MEXICO.
I hope to experience daily life with locals, participate in cultural traditions, and work on meaningful projects that make a tangible difference. I love walking tours, farmers markets, beaches, museums, and finding off-the-beaten-path cafes to chat with people.
🎨 A Bit More About Me (Personality + Fun Stuff)
Age: 37
Nationality: Romanian-American (dual cultural roots I’m proud of!)
Dietary needs: Omnivore, no allergies — open to most foods
Hobbies: Dancing (can someone teach me salsa??), yoga, birdwatching, language exchanges, and experimenting with regional recipes
My preferences:
✔️ Happy to stay 1–4 weeks at a time
✔️ Non-smoker, early riser (but I love a siesta!)
✔️ Not allergic to anything, fine with pets
✔️ Comfortable with moderate physical work (though not heavy lifting all day long)
✔️ Prefer warm to moderate climates (I’ve had my share of snowy winters!)
Let’s connect and create something beautiful together — I’d love to hear about your project and how I can be part of it! 🌿

More details about your skills
I consider myself a life long learner who is a good student and can be a good and patient teacher as well. I am flexible, willing to learn, not afraid to ask questions and overall dependable and kind spirited. Show me what to do and I’ll get it done!

What else ...
I really enjoy crafts. I have always admired hand made Mexican artisanal work. I may dream I would learn how to make mosaics, talavera tiles, ceramics, weave, make bracelets, papel picado and any and all other crafts. I’m my dream I would also love to learn how to cook authentic dishes and better understand the indigenous communities that live in Mexico.
