Description
Hi, my name is Alasdair, and I’m from Scotland. I love being outdoors and experiencing new places. I’m happiest when I’m doing something active, helping out with practical work, spending time outside, and adding to my ever-growing list of DIY skills.
I’m easy-going, hardworking, and always keen to learn something new. I really enjoy the satisfaction that comes from a productive day and getting stuck into hands-on projects.
I enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and sharing experiences, but I’m equally happy exploring on my own too, so you don’t need to worry about me being under your feet all the time.

More details about your skills
Over the last few years, I’ve been working on improving my DIY skills while renovating the flat that my girlfriend and I live in. I’ve taken on a range of projects, including putting up shelves and cupboards, regrouting the bathroom, and generally improving the décor and feel of our home.
I don't have a garden at the moment, but I love working in my parents one, and always used to help out when I was growing up. We lived in the middle of nowhere on the Isle of Lewis, so we had quite a big garden, where work was always needing doing.
I also enjoy working on my bicycle and car. If something goes wrong with either of them, I will always try and fix it myself first, even if initially I don't know what the problem is. I enjoy the aspect of learning about how my bicycle and car work. My friends have even started coming to me with any issues they have with their bikes. I guess I just like fixing things.
I like to cook and would love to learn more about the cuisine in your home country.

What else ...
I am very outdoorsy, there are 282 mountains in Scotland that are over 914.4 meters tall. These mountains are called Munros and I am trying to climb as many as I can and have so far climbed 85, so I have nearly climed a third of them!
I have played the violin/scottish fiddle for as long as I can remember and I am passionate about Scottish culture. One of the reasons I have joined Workaway, is becuase I think it will be an excellent oppurtunity for me to learn about the cultures of countries all over the world.
