I'm planning a road trip through Italy, Spain, Portugal and Morocco through winter this year.
Description

I am a maker at heart, trained to be a furniture/cabinet maker after a diploma of clothing and textiles. I taught myself to crochet/knit/spoon carve/pickle/bake. Love a good cup of coffee or a glass of wine as much as a shared meal, an open fire or a hard days work.

I am motivated by a desire to be on the healing side of life, to live in accordance to nature rather than dominate the landscape wherever I go.
I am happiest working on projects for people I know, using repurposed or recycled materials. I'm experienced in natural building and reusing materials, especially wood. I have a good understanding of permaculture principles and organic agriculture but would love to learn more about it.

I travel with a small car and my own tools. I spend most of my time in the countryside of central Italy where I live and manage a soon to be agricultural association/community project.

I have woodworking and renovation skills, I've done a bit of everything (electrical, plumbing, masonry, framing) Sewing and crafting skills too.
I can cook and clean, an excellent organizer and pretty good with spreadsheets too. I can render designs in 3D and love to sketch detailed plans by hand.
I enjoy physical work, my old job was cabinet making so I have carried many a heavy object up the tiniest of stairwells, ensuring it doesn't scratch the walls.

Kate is a capable cabinet maker. She is highly autonomous - she required nothing more than a general idea of what was wanted and from there she made her way around our tool shop and wood pile with confidence. She made a collection of beautiful wood pieces to help our guests put their clothes away!

Kate is a wonderful workawayer. She is full of great ideas and is happy to do the hard work. Her woodworking skills were very helpful when we built a platform and a bed, also the pallet couch she made is fantastic.

This was the perfect start to my workaway trip. Giorgio and Carmine are so welcoming and generous with their time.
