  • Description

I am a peaceful, fun-loving, outdoorsy, hands-on, kind & calm sort of dude.

I am currently travelling through Europe by bus & train. I keep my plans pretty flexible, as I tend to 'go with the wind' quite often. However, I am also ridiculously loyal - so if I make you a clear promise, I'll be there.

    About me:
I am 29, from New Zealand, and recently qualified as a carpenter. I have been living in Northern Finland for 4 years. I am very friendly and easy-going. I have found myself a passion for making things, particularly with wood. I enjoy fixing and/or improving things, and problem solving gets my brain juices flowing.

I have done a few Workaways before, as well as WOOFing, and I've been a WarmShowers host for a couple years now. Very familiar with shared environments, volunteering, and cooking & cleaning in a stranger's kitchens.

I am now searching for Workaway hosts that have building projects ongoing which I can help out on. I am particularly interested in wood construction, however I will gladly work on any project that you have. Independently or cooperatively, I will fit myself to the appropriate task and make sure it moves forwards.

Other hobbies & interests are widely varied. I love to be outside. I have been working as a nature tour guide in the Arctic. I am a keen amateur gardener & permaculture enthusiast. Gardening projects will suit me greatly also.

I am a passionate learner. I really enjoy new challenges, problem solving, and exploring new ideas. I try my best to minimise waste, and use recycled materials for building when possible.

I am very interested in learning languages, even the basics will make me so happy. It's a fascinating process, I'm sure you know. I welcome a challenge

What I am looking for from a Workaway Host:
    - Opportunity to build and work on a project that will have a lasting impact
    - A chance to speak German, French, or Spanish! Even a little bit will be a big help
    - A bicycle for local exploration would be pretty fun

What I want to offer to a Workaway Host:
    - A motivated and hard working labourer
    - Some skills in construction, carpentry, and gardening
    - Innovation & development on your ongoing projects
    - Improvement on your land & living space
    - Tasty food when it's my turn to cook

I am a hard worker, even when volunteering. I do love to relax and live slow - but I get bored easily if I don't have projects. When my focus-mode kicks in I'm 100% involved.

    Philosophically speaking...
I do my best in life to open myself to other people's ways of being & doing. There's always something to learn. We all have our own stories both tragic & magic.

Other than that long introduction... I'm a fairly simple person. I'm sure whichever way this journey goes, there will be pleasure involved 🙂
