Description
Hello, my name is DaisyJane! I am 28 years old. I grew up on a small hobby farm in Washington State, USA and I now live in Seattle. I began my Workaway journey back in 2016 on my gap year before starting university. During that year I did workaways on two islands in Indonesia and another in Italy. My many other adventures included living in Switzerland as an exchange student to learn French and volunteering in Thailand doingresearch on semi-wild elephants.
Since then I have graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelor’s in international studies, lived in Granada, Spain to study Spanish, traveled a lot more (as of this year I’ve traveled to 27 countries in total), and moved back home to Seattle! I am currently in Australia to visit some close family friends, and have extended my trip so I can do some workaways and soak in as much of this beautiful country as I can until my tourist visa is up in December.
I am truly a Jill of all trades, and I love learning new things. I have extensive experience in childcare, including teaching Montessori preschool and nannying for neurodivergent kids, and have more than a decade of experience in the restuarant industry. I have also worked at farmers markets selling produce, and am an accomplished henna artist (my henna instagram is @zaharabibi.henna if you want to check out my work!). Growing up on a farm gave me a love for working with the Earth and getting my hands dirty - which, living in the city now, I crave desperately! I love animals of all kinds and would love to gain more experience with horses. We had many on my farm when I was young, but it’s been many years since I’ve had the privilege of riding. Beekeeping is another dream of mine, which I hope to learn about soon!
I deeply value community. I love spending time with my friends, and making new ones! When I am home, I love to put on a good dinner for friends, and often throw murder mystery parties and game nights. I enjoy dressing up, being silly, and having a good laugh. I also love to move my body, and when I am home my main hobby is dancing. I love dancing of any kind and am always grooving about, but I especially adore partner dancing and line dancing, which I do at least once a week. I was lucky to grow up surrounded by live music, and it has a big place in my heart. I love going to local festivals and being involved in community, good food, and music! I love to read, and I enjoy movies and shows but I don’t watch tv regularly (usually just as a social activity). I love spending time with others, and really value human connection. I grew up in a multicultural family that values philosophy, art, and open communication. I am always up for an intellectual conversation, and love to discuss contrasting perspectives and expand my world view.
I also enjoy calligraphy, painting, photography, and making jewelry. I am quite spiritual; I practice kundalini yoga, and I am interested in numerology, tarot, reiki, breathwork, dreamwork, and energy healing, as well as herbalism and alternative/natural medicines. I am also (slowly) buildng my own business to educate about women’s & reproductive health, which is a huge passion of mine. At home I lead a monthly women’s circle, and I am constantly learning about reproductive health as well as birthwork, and I plan to get my doula certification soon.
I care deeply for the Earth and dream of someday having a homestead and a village with regenerative farming, so I aspire to learn all I can about farming and gardening, as well as community tending. I am so excited to expand my community through workaway, and can’t wait to meet all the amazing souls on the other side of this platform. Thank you for taking the time to read about me, and please let me know if you have any questions. I’m so happy to chat anytime! -

More details about your skills
I enjoy photography and art, I love to paint and sing (although I'm often off key!) and do creative projects. I have a love of language, am a native English speaker and conversational in French, and I can read and write in Arabic (although I probably won't understand what it means). I have a very large family with 16 adorable younger cousins, and I am experienced with childcare, both from watching them and from babysitting and nannying jobs. I am a tidy, organized person, with about 5 years experience in restaurant waitressing and hostessing. I have lots of service skills and I love working with people. I enjoy problem solving and believe that clear communication is the most important thing in any situation. I also love to work in gardens or around a farm and get my hands dirty. I am a hard worker, put my all into whatever I do, and I love learning new skills. I can pick up just about anything I put my mind to, so whatever you need done (that doesn't require official technical training) I'm a quick learner and I bet you I can do it!
