My next destination:
Chile - from May 2025 until Jun 2025 View allDescription
Hola! I am Sunay from Turkey and I'm currently travelling in Chile. Before I started travelling I used to live in a town in the south of my country. The place where I mostly want to be is where I can get in touch with nature easily. For this reason, I have always preferred to be in nature for living, job, hobbies, healing etc. in my life. My priority is always to respect nature. I care a lot about other life forms too.
Although my education is in nature conservation at the academy, I am not working in that field professionally at the moment. Tree years ago I left my PhD education because of many reasons. I prefered to protect nature in more comprehensive way. One year later, as a begining, I decided to move to countryside and dream about growing a food forest using regenarative methods. As I thought I had a lot to learn and to experience, I need to get in touch with some communities interested in regenarative agriculture in Turkey . One of them was the School of Life, which organised eco-living practice courses. I became a participant and also a volunteer (later) in one of these courses, which aimed to guide young people who wanted to move to rural areas or to support ecological living in the countryside. Then I wanted to experience agricultural production in a real farm for at least one year. Thus I volunteered and worked (later) in an ecological farm where people trying to adapt syntropic farming in to mediterranean climate zone. I love to see different properties such as permaculture garden, farms, regenerative urban gardens etc.. Learning about different designs and farming practices excites me and helps my dreams for the future grow .
Beside, I am a versatile person. I have many interests that I sometimes get lost in. Bouldering/Climbing, yoga, mountain hiking, gardening, bird watching, performing arts, wildlife art are some of the things that I like to do. I am also a yoga instructor. I like to encourage people to connect their body and mind, and that's how I prefer to teach asana practices.
I am a very firendly, sharing and cooperative person and at the same time I respect my own personal space too. I highly value learning new skills, growing emotionally and being transformed. Recently I need these even more. I think traveling and building meaningful relationships with people is a unique way to do that. That's one of the reasons I want to be on the road. My destination is South America for now and I have many reasons for that.During this journey I seriously want my spanish language back. I've been in Chile for a month, but I haven't done my best for practicing it:).Interests

More details about your skills
During my academic journey I worked as a researcher in the nature conservation and research projects. (biodiversity, ecology, conservation biology) I was a field biologist and I think my endurance for working in field conditions is quite high. Plus I am comfortable with writing research projects and articles.
After leaving the academy I become a content writer in two different company (Biology Specialist for EWMA Team; Product content and blog writer for Lumos Camping and Van Company).
As I worked remotely in these jobs I also worked as a farmer and biologist in an ecological farm (where people trying to adapt syntropic farming in to mediterranean climate) in the Mediterranean region in Turkey. I can use basic farming tools, plant and harvest, basic pruning. I am also interested in the utilisation of the harvested products (İf you are open to experimenting)
I am quick learner and very handy for helping construction works. Me and my boyfriend built a motocaravan 3 years ago.
Besides all these, I have been teaching as a yoga instructor since 2018.

What else ...
I have been in Chile for two months. I have visited Santiago, Maria Pinto, Valparaiso, Banos Morales and Corneche. I am not looking for a very short-term volunteering experience, I would prefer staying at least 3 weeks. I like to learn about cultures by travelling and living so that I can see and process enough and make strong connections, even if they are few.
As you can understand from my profile, I prefer to give priority to hosts such as farms, permaculture gardens, individuals or communities interested in ecological and cultural production, nature conservation associations, NGO's etc. Also I am fine with eco-conscious hostels and guesthouse.I need a period of time that I can get to know people, culture, geography, fauna and flora and understand the natural cyclesin the area. To learn and to contribute more I can think of staying way longer.
*** I have online yoga classes four days a week which means I need reliable internet connection, time (aprox. 1 hour each) and space to do it. If it is not possible I can find another solution so we can talk about it.Some more information
