Hi! I'm Paulien (27), a curious and easy-going traveler from Brussels who loves discovering new places, cultures, and different ways of living.
I'm looking for opportunities that allow me to step away from the fast-paced routine of city life and spend more time in nature, learn new skills, and connect with people from different backgrounds. Through Workaway, I hope to contribute where I can while learning about animal care, sustainable living, and community life.
I am a graphic designer with a background in communication and tourism. During my studies, I completed internships in Indonesia and Spain, which deepened my interest in cultural exchange, travel, and language learning. I enjoy creative projects, communication-related tasks, and helping wherever needed.
I come from a multilingual background and speak Dutch and English fluently. I also have a good level of French, some knowledge of Spanish and German, and I'm currently learning Indonesian.
Animals are one of the main reasons I'm on Workaway. I've done pet sitting through Pawshake and have looked after dogs, cats, rabbits, and even a ferret. I also volunteered at Dahab Cats in Egypt, which was one of my favourite travel experiences. I loved being around the cats every day, getting to know their different personalities, and helping with their care.
One day, I'd love to start an animal sanctuary of my own. At the moment, that's still a dream rather than a concrete plan, as my background isn't in animal care and I still have a lot to learn. That's why I'm especially interested in Workaway opportunities involving animals. I'd love to learn from people with experience while helping out wherever I can.
I'm a respectful, adaptable, and reliable person who isn't afraid of getting my hands dirty. Whether it's feeding animals, cleaning, gardening, painting, or helping with day-to-day tasks, I'm happy to pitch in where needed.
For me, Workaway is a chance to learn, contribute, meet interesting people, and spend time with animals. If I leave having helped out and learned something new, I'll consider it a success.
