  • Description

For the entire 2020 year and now into 2021, we have been safe and sound helping our wonderful host in “Covid Free” Vientiane, Laos. Currently, we are planning to leave Laos at the end of March 2021 (??????), waiting for travel restrictions to ease and looking for our next adventure. We can provide you with experience and professional services in many fields. If, after reading our very detailed profile, you believe we can be of service to you, by all means, please send us a message! We would truly love to be a productive part of your family or business and including pics in your listing is a huge plus for us. Thank You to all of the great hosts who have offered us an opportunity to join them.
    Kind Regards,
    Steve & Rebecca
If you consider us as helpers and we agree, we will communicate quickly and honestly with you, will never leave you hanging, we will show up when we say we will, you will find our profile and our unfiltered profile photos current and up to date, we will naturally help with cooking, laundry, cleaning up after meals and taking good care of our (and your) personal space as if it was our own; no need to ask and we don't require that you to entertain us.
We are an adventure loving married team, independent workers in good health, neat, habitual organizers, responsible, honest, and ambitious. We love to be around and respect nature, animals, and country settings but function fine in the city too. Financially stable, and self-insured. We believe we posses good business, artistic and creative abilities and gain great pleasure from our attempts in creating anything that you may need. Stable personalities, non-smokers, low maintenance, low drama with a New York sense of humor :>). No criminal records (well maybe a parking ticket or two) and we really don't mind getting our hands dirty fixing things or learning new skills. We prefer to see our projects all the way through until they are finished and may even surprise you occasionally.
We are experienced in teaching English to non-native speakers (although Rebecca is the real expert), sharing cultural experiences, most scopes of construction, decorating and renovation work. Exterior maintenance skills as well as designing outdoor living spaces with locally available materials has been a life long enjoyment. Another very serious hobby of ours is working in the kitchen cooking and we are always happy to create some tasty meals for you and share recipes if you like. We have also become expert level scooter driver/riders!
Rebecca is a highly experienced English teacher to non-native students from many countries and holds 2 Masters Degrees in Teaching, one in Adult Education & Corporate Training and another in Secondary Teaching with an English Literature specialty, a Cambridge CELTA Degree, a U.S. Arizona Teaching License and Arizona Security Clearance Credentials. She is also my loyal gopher and partner (gopher coffee, gopher my tools :>) etc.), general clean up crew, ever faithful assistant and we make a very efficient team! Absolutely love the chain saw, painting, hand tools, and gardening. In addition, Rebecca was also formally, a corporate trainer for many years
    for a large U.S. corporation.
We love animals, motorcycles, traveling the world, chatting up new people and meeting new friends. Our personal hobbies include cooking, gardening, fishing, beer, and beach days but not necessarily in that order :>). In our past lives we have been involved in teaching, guest services, management positions in corporate America, owner-operators in several businesses and countless dirty "hands on" work as well.
We travel frequently, have lived overseas for over 9 years now and have volunteered quite a bit. In the past, we have hosted several travel exchange students in our Arizona home from around the world and we always look forward to meeting new people and sharing adventures, life stores and food with you! We would happily consider long or short term house/pet/farm sits as well.
Below are 13 additional host references for us from other work exchange sites that we have been involved with. Details on any of them, personal information and all documents will be happily provided as we are very transparent in our dealings. You can also check out our photo extensive album.

This is the second time we've had Steve and Rebecca house and pet sit for us. They are wonderful guests and took excellent care of our three cats, including our very shy three-legger. They left our place spotless, the bedding laundered and they cooked a delicious quiche for us to have upon return. Fantastic people and guests.

I can’t say enough wonderful words for Steve and Rebecca. One of our dogs does. It usually like strangers and I was worried. He greeted Steve like he was his long lost friend. Rebecca had our parrot giving her kisses.
They kept us up to date on a regular basis.
The house was cleaner than when we left.
    I highly recommend them.
I hope they are available in the future when we live in Mexico and need a vacation.
    Thank you so much.

It was a real pleasure having Steven and Rebecca take care of our house and three cats. We were a little nervous as this was our first time leaving the house and cats to strangers but right from the beginning these guys made us feel completely comfortable. They texted daily updates (with photos) that also included the finally successful effort to get our extremely shy cat out of the closet to where he allowed them to pet him. When we got home, our house was cleaned, bed linens and towels washed, and a pot of delicious home-made veggie soup was left in the fridge. Straight forward, great communicators, detail oriented, pleasant and caring--these guys are the best!

Oh my! Just like the other reviewers, we were stunned with Steve and Rebecca. These are simply two fine people who are on a wonderful life journey. My wife and I were thrilled to have them stay with us and get to know them.
Rebecca is a joy to be around and Steve has a wonderful sense of humor and they are both amazing workers, chefs, and just fine folks.
When they left today we gave a serious 'welcome back anytime' message. We enjoyed evenings of shared stories, some of the best foods we have ever eaten and we have several house projects now finished. I can't recommend them more highly.

I can't recommend Steve and Rebecca enough, they were such a massive help here for 3 months that I don't know really where to start with this reference.
Right from the beginning they got stuck in, and ended up doing far more than was expected of them and doing it very well too. They are honest, reliable and great characters too - if they've applied to come and stay at your place snap them up quickly before someone else does!
Best of luck with your future plans guys!

Where do I start with this dynamic duo.
We hit the ground running with Steve and Rebecca. We gave them an almost impossible task of refitting a shop in Abbeyleix in less than 2 weeks, but THEY DID IT. We opened on time thanks to their dedication and hard work.
They are great fun too got on great with us, the kids and all the other helpexer's from around the world.
I only hope Steve and Rebecca that you will come back and stay with us one day and we can try to repay you both in some small way for all your hard work and attention to detail.
Best of luck guys with the rest of your travels.
    Kind regards,
    Sarah and Patrick.

Steve and Rebecca were our "helper angels" for just under two weeks in May. They took a look at us and our house, emerging from a long dark and dreary winter, dusted us off and set us up for our summer season. They hit the ground running, as they arrived 2 days before we were hosting a large group in our bunkhouse. Steve rolled up his sleeves, donned his chef's hat and cooked dinner and then an Irish breakfast for about 20 people, with Rebecca at his side as superb kitchen porter. They house-sat for us for 3 days. We returned to find the cottage laundry done, our dog well fed and loved, the chickens in fine fettle, the house looking spick and span and the kitchen and utility cupboards totally reorganized ( Steve is cupboard king!) There was even a lovely salad waiting for us when we arrived. They helped clean and set up cottages very efficiently, They attacked the work in the garden with great gusto, made a lovely vegetarian meal and other delicacies. Steve repainted a bedroom wonderfully - even did some re-plastering - without any supervision whatsoever. Rebecca reorganized the room beautifully. On top of all that, they were great fun and brilliant company at meal times - thanks for your one-liners, Steve! They even joined our pub quiz team for a night. We didn't win, but we had great fun! We can't thank you enough, Steve and Rebecca. You'll be welcome back here anytime! We miss you and we wish you all the best for your future endeavors!!

Steven & Rebecca were just an amazing couple that really, really care. They just look around your house, farm, garden and they know what needs to be done, no need to ask them for too much, they already know. They became good friends in a very short time, spending time with them was a joy and our animals really liked them, I even left my dog with them and she got really spoiled.Having them around was almost like having family or old friends around. Steven is an amazing cook, he can cook from meat dishes to very good vegetarian. Rebecca is warm, friendly, loving and always looking for ways to make your life easy, she was a great help. Steven can also build beautiful furniture, he made it rustic farm style , also used very nice drift wood that we had around the farm. He also built stones steps, painted walls, did gardening.....they both know lots of everything.
If you are lucky enough, you should invite them to stay for a very long time :)

We can highly recommend Steve and Rebecca, they were not only a great help they were great company too.
Steve and Rebecca got stuck into any task we gave them, even when the weather was not great they worked to compete their tasks. They cooked us a great Mexican meal giving me a night off the cooking which was delicious and fun.
It is fabulous when they just blend in like family members this is exactly how Steve and Rebecca were here.We would welcome them back if they are this way again and highly recommend them to anyone else.
We wish them well with their next adventure and future travels.

Steve and Rebecca spent just a week with us and we were sorry to say goodbye. They both gave their time generously and worked extremely hard. Enthusiasm and motivation were thrown around with gusto and projects both inside and out were tackled with competence. They were good company, appreciative, good humored and great fun. Steve showed us some impressive cooking skills with his Italian meal and Rebecca cleaned and polished tirelessly. We really appreciated all their efforts and kindness. Our first Help-x guests - they will be a hard act to follow. We would welcome them back any time. We were very lucky to have them here.

Steve and Rebecca have just stayed with us for two weeks and they are absolutely fantastic. They are really hardworking and have made such a difference to our renovation project. As well as being two really genuine nice people they are fun to be with as well. They also cooked us an amazing Mexican meal so if you get the chance take them up on their offer of preparing a meal for you. Steve has many construction skills and Rebecca is an absolute star at housekeeping, in fact my house has never looked better.
Thank you so much Steve and Rebecca, good luck on your travels and if you are ever our way again you are always welcome to stay.

Steven & Rebecca were a real pleasure to host with both my dogs terribly upset to see them leave at the end of their stay. Eager to help & making a great team in the kitchen ( Steve cooks Rebecca tidies & washes up ) they are a definite asset to have around. Would definitely recommend them as Help-x's , easy to get on with , good sense of humour & always happy to help out with anything that needed doing. Good luck guys on any future travels!!
