Description
As an American with a deep interest in cross-cultural connection, I’ve spent the past 9 years studying Mandarin Chinese and immersing myself in language and cultural exchange. Taiwan has long held a special place in my heart, and I'm motivated by the opportunity to contribute meaningfully while learning from the people and communities around me.
I find happiness in helping others grow—whether that’s through teaching, language exchange, or just lending a hand where it's needed. I have moderate experience teaching a variety of subjects, including English, basic math, and art, and I truly enjoy adapting to different learning styles and needs.
What drives me is curiosity, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to make each environment I enter a little better. Whether I’m in a classroom, helping with a creative project, or supporting community work, I bring reliability, respect, and open-mindedness.
I'm looking forward to building real connections in Taiwan, improving my Mandarin in a natural setting, and gaining new perspectives through meaningful work. Let’s collaborate and learn from each other!Interests

Languages have always fascinated me—not just as tools for communication, but as bridges between cultures. I received my Associate of Arts degree in Chinese Mandarin from the Defense Language Institute, one of the most prestigious language schools in the world. There, I had the privilege of learning from some of the most accomplished and inspiring language instructors I've ever encountered. Their passion and dedication left a lasting impression on me and deepened my desire to share the gift of language with others. Over the years, I’ve worked as an English tutor in various settings, helping students of all ages improve their speaking, writing, and comprehension skills. Whether I’m coaching university students through essays or guiding young learners in everyday conversation, I always aim to make learning English engaging, encouraging, and tailored to each student’s needs. Now, as I explore opportunities in Taiwan, I’m excited to connect with others who share a love for language and cultural exchange. Teaching English is more than a job to me—it’s a way to empower others, inspire confidence, and pass on the same sense of curiosity and joy that my own teachers gave me. I look forward to creating meaningful learning experiences and helping students reach their full potential.Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

More details about your skills
I'm a native English speaker from California, USA, fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese. My language skills come from both academic study and real-world application—I earned my Associate of Arts degree in Chinese from the Defense Language Institute in 2018, and have continued developing my fluency ever since.
I served six years in the United States Air Force, where I gained valuable leadership experience, discipline, and adaptability. My military background has equipped me with strong problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work effectively in diverse environments under pressure.
I also bring solid teaching experience and enjoy helping others learn in a way that’s engaging and supportive. I’ve taught English and other subjects to students of different ages and backgrounds, and I’m comfortable leading small groups or one-on-one sessions. My communication skills are further strengthened by a background in customer service and public speaking, which helps me connect with people and foster a welcoming, respectful atmosphere.
Whether I’m teaching, helping with language exchange, or supporting a team, I approach every opportunity with professionalism, a positive attitude, and a genuine desire to contribute. I’m excited to bring my skills to a meaningful role in Taiwan while continuing to grow through new experiences.Age
