Description
Hi! I’m Sophie, an Australian traveller and English teacher who loves discovering new places, meeting people from different cultures and becoming part of the communities I visit.
I love to travel and have visited 30+ countries over the past 13 years. After finishing my postgraduate studies in Public Health, I went on a little backpacking trip around Southeast Asia… and somehow, four years later, I’m still on the road...oops! 🤭 I recently finished a working holiday in Spain and I’m currently travelling around Europe, but I’m definitely not ready to go home yet!
I have around 5 years of experience working in hospitality and events as a waitress and bartender, as well as previous experience working in reception. I’m comfortable working with guests, answering questions, helping with check-ins, keeping things organised and getting stuck into whatever needs to be done.
I’ve stayed in many hostels myself, so I understand how important it is to create a welcoming, friendly and comfortable environment for guests. I’m naturally sociable and love meeting people, but I’m also responsible, respectful of shared spaces and happy to follow house rules and routines.
I studied Spanish and Latin American Studies at university and have spent a lot of time travelling in Spanish-speaking countries. I’m becoming more
comfortable communicating in Spanish and would love to continue improving my fluency. I’m also always interested in languages, history, culture, nature and learning new things.
I’m looking for meaningful volunteer experiences where I can contribute my skills, meet interesting people, learn from others and experience places beyond the typical tourist route. I’m adaptable, friendly and proactive, and I’m not afraid of getting my hands dirty or helping with whatever needs doing!
I’d love the opportunity to become part of a team and make a positive contribution while experiencing a new place. 🌍 -
