Description
Simon:
I love travelling the world and getting to know different cultures and ways of life. I love diving into these cultures instead of just passing by. Therefore Workaway is a very good opportunity to get in touch with the variety of human lifes while offering the energy I have to support incredible projects. Those of the projects helping to make the world a place full of awareness and coorperation which is in my opinion absolutely necessary to spread.
Maris:
For me Workaway is a beautiful way of learning! I am happy to give my time and energy to support projects that align with my values and in exchange learn new skills and meet interesting people. Generally I’d describe myself as open minded, calm and easy going person. I enjoy meeting new people, learning foreign languages, exploring new places, playing music together and moving my body.
What I’m doing lately:
I don’t have a home base at the moment. Since march I’ve been volunteering for humanitarian and environmental NGOs in Malta and Sicily. I spent most of my time in shipyards or at sea. In between the working periods I enjoy exploring the areas around, traveling in a simple way (mostly hitchhiking, sleeping outdoors, at friends places or meeting new people at Couchsurfing). Afterwards I spent a couple of months working as a windsurfinstructor on a small island in the Baltic Sea.
Currently Simon and me are in Morocco volunteering in environmental projects, learning about permaculture and diving into the Moroccan culture and way of life.Interests

S.: I spend most of the time of my young life after graduating in the social sector. I helped a child "not fitting in the system" in his daily school life as a personal assisstent and planned trips for groups using the tools I learned in the experiental education. Even more helpful for the upcoming tasks might be the permaculture cours I absolved or the wood work I learned at the waldorf school.
We both already spend some time working at different farms/projects and it has always been a pleasure to help transforming visions into reality and do whatever is needed to be done.
Maris: Like Simon, I’m an outdoor education trainer. I’m working with groups of mostly children, teenagers and young adults on their social and team building skills, teaching them about nature and supporting their personal development.
One of my favourite activities is experimenting with (vegan) cooking and celebrating good food! I have experience in cooking for large groups as well.
In my freetime I often do creative things such as drawing or handcrafts. I also have some woodworking experience (I’ve built my own furniture and I know how to use handtools and small machines). As I spent some time in shipyards this year, I have various crafts skills such as painting, working with the flex and some woodwork.Age
