As a couple we are interested in helping people of all ages improve their English speaking skills. We have years of experience helping people through conversation and comprehensible input.

Hello, this is Sheila! I was a teacher for ten years and a school counselor for 23 years in California. I enjoy interchange with people of all ages. I love nature, birdwatching, hiking, reading, gardening, playing the ukulele, all kinds of music, singing, yoga, meditation, and learning languages. I like to connect with people and get the feel of a place when I travel. I have excellent mental and physical health. I have worked with hundreds of children as a teacher and school counselor and have two adult daughters.

Hello! This is Mark! I am an archaeologist, cartographer, writer, and graphic artist. I love to experience different cultures and learn, especially new skills and languages. I am very good with my hands and love to build things (for example, I build musical instruments). I am a hard worker and have a light heart and a good sense of humor. I am very good working in the garden with caring for plants and trees. I enjoy hiking, birdwatching, photography, and being in nature. I am also an expert with computers and associated technology.

Living an ecologically sound and sustainable life is important to us. We drive older electric cars when in the United States and live a car-free lifestyle here in Portugal, eat a mostly plant-based diet, do not waste food, avoid the use of plastic, save energy at home and work, and buy second hand items and clothing whenever we can.
We enjoy growing intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually. We do not drink alcohol or use drugs.
