Hi, we're Shan & Dee =)

We are both practitioners of agroecology, nutrition and herbalism, and livelong lovers of food, art, music, and dance. In 2017 we left the city to study organic fruit and vegetable growing and natural medicine. We spent 2 years volunteering on farms across Latin America and the Caribbean, and 4 years working for and running our own farms in the United States.

We are excited to exchange life experience and use our skills to give back to our Workaway hosts and their communities. We love to work with our hands and care deeply about animals and all the living creatures who make this a world worth living in, so you can plan on us arriving with a positive attitude, creativity, and lots of energy!

What else ...

Shan grew up in Brooklyn, NY and her family is from Guyana and Jamaica. She is very passionate about herbal medicine and the healing potential of plant foods. After getting her degree in nutrition she is now studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and therapies hands-with plans to start her a healing center. In her free time she likes to meditate, read, play guitar, and study new languages. She's excited to share cultural and personal experience with others.

Dee grew up in the hills of New Hampshire and his family is from Ireland and Quebéc, Canada. He is passionate about meeting new people, understanding their vision, and helping them put it into action. He has always worked to build things, with some of his favorite jobs being a chef, carpenter, and systems engineer. In his free time he loves to draw, swim, climb trees, and do yoga. He is especially excited to work on gardening, livestock/wildlife, and eco-building projects.
