  • Description

I would describe myself as adventurous, creative, talkative and uncomplicated. I love meeting people from all over the world and gaining new experiences and making new friends along the way :)
I like to try new things. In the past, I've tried windsurfing and kayaking. Unfortunately, I didn't spend enough time at the sea or in places where I could continue these hobbies, which is why, I am looking forward to finding friends and locations during my journy to do so. I also have a HUGE passion for cycling and love doing multi-day tours. I went on a bike tour with friends in 2023, where we cycled along Sweden's west coast from Trelleborg to Tjörn and totally fell in love with outdoor sports and camping and am therefore looking for people who have a similar passion and openness towards physical activity in nature. :)

Besides outdoor sports, I love everything creative. My friends and I love to play pen & paper together, which always gets very funny and absurd very quickly. What I love about it is that it's basically a game where you write a big story together, which gets more and more lively and varied the longer you play.It has also taught me to quickly find solutions and adapt to new situations. Apart from Pen&Paper, I am always open to social activities of all kinds, from game nights, cooking together or just sitting together chat about eveyday life, Ideas of any kind - might it be a funny what-if scenario or deep phiolosophical questions.

I'm also a bit of a language nerd. I love linguistics and am happy about every new sentence I can learn in another language. I am particularly fascinated by Germanic languages, as German is my mother tongue. I find it super exciting to discover similarities and differences in expressions and grammar in other related languages. I'm particularly fascinated by words that don't exist in my own mother tongue, as they always provide a new perspective on ways of life, feelings and concepts that I haven't had yet a word for myself.

More details about my language interests
I especially want to improve my English. My comprehension is very good and according to a test at my university I have a C1 level. I notice that I actually understand 90% of the spoken and written language, but I lack practice in speaking, which is why I often understand more vocabulary than I can actively use in a conversation. I would very much like to change that. I am happy about anyone who would like to chat with me in English :) I would also like to improve my swedish a little. Especially pronaunciation -wise and vocabulary-wise. I can ask for directions and order a coffee and understand 10 percent of written and spoken language, and i would really like to change that, too. :) Languages that I can teach: German. I am a native speaker and have been studying German language and literature in Göttingen since October 2021. :)

  • More details about your skills

Hi, I'm Saskia, 25 years old and from Germany. I am currently looking for a paid job in Ireland to gain work experience abroad between my Bachelor's and Master's degree.

My work experience: My extensive experience in customer service, including working in retail, volunteering in a museum, and in the catering trade, has enabled me to continually develop my skills in advising customers and communicating with different people. I am familiar with processing payments and bookings and responding to the individual needs of guests.
In the catering sector, I worked for several years in a bistro in an indoor play park for children. My main tasks included processing orders, preparing meals, and ensuring the cleanliness of the kitchen and kitchen equipment. During my time working there, I learned to stay level-headed under time pressure, since this work environment was very dynamic and fast-paced.
Additionally, I have worked in a hospital kitchen, where I was responsible for portioning meals in a fast-paced, assembly-line style. This required a high level of concentration and perseverance, as maintaining accuracy and focus throughout the process was much more challenging than it might initially seem.
I have also volunteered in a museum, where I gave guided tours and assisted school groups and families through our educational programs, such as GPS rallies and holiday activities. This experience helped me develop my communication skills and ability to engage with people of all ages.

Currently, I work in a stationery shop, where I handle cash register transactions and provide customer service. This has strengthened my ability to advise customers and respond to their specific needs.

In general, these practical experiences have further strengthened my organisational and problem-solving skills. I am convinced that I will quickly familiarise myself with my given tasks and can therefore make a valuable contribution to your team.
If you require references or any documents to verify my experience, I am happy to provide them. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further details. :)

  • What else ...

I am a very flexible and adaptable person. I love meeting new people and am always up for social activities. Be it nice game nights, a fun evening in the bar or trips into nature for hiking, cycling or just for fun.
In my spare time I like to play pen & paper games with my friends, read, draw and do regular sports like indoor cycling or swimming. I am also open to a series/film marathon of any kind. If you like, I can also show you my favourite board game Brandy Dog. It's like Ludo, but with less chance and more fun! :)
