Hi there!
My name is Alexis and I am a student from the US. I'm greatly interested in learning about other cultures and languages, but more importantly, offering help where help is needed. I love cooking/ anything to do with the kitchen as well as any outdoor activities! Some of my other hobbies are reading and running. I was previously an athlete so I am more than capable of helping out with more laborious tasks. English is my first language but I know a bit of Spanish as well.
This is my first time using Workaway and I'm very excited to see what opportunities it brings! I have always had a passion for travel and my goal is to meet as many people as I can from all across the globe!Interests

English is my first language, but my family is from Mexico so I am able to understand a great deal of Spanish. I can speak a decent amount, and I am always looking to improve this! I also took a few classes of French but I don't know very much of it. However, I am very interested in any new language I can possibly learn! I think languages are the most important thing you can learn because of the way they bring people together. I am more than willing to help you practice and improve your English too!Skills and knowledge I'd like to share or learn

I am open to any tasks assigned to me, but I am most proficient in the kitchen. I have worked in many restaurants and I love to cook and bake from scratch. My favorite things are learning new recipes and cooking for friends. From my food service experience, I actually quite enjoy cleaning as well and I am a very neat person. (Some may say clean freak!)
During my Workaway experience, I'm hoping to learn many new skills, especially in regard to gardening and other outdoor jobs. I am accustomed to working long shifts with physically-intensive jobs and I love a challenge. I am used to being very physically active and I don't mind getting my hands dirty at all.
I am also the oldest child in my family, so I have a lot of childcare experience. I have siblings 5+ years younger than me so I am very comfortable taking care of children of all ages. I also coached youth sports in high school, teaching is a huge joy in my life!Age

What else ...
Here are some fun facts about me!
- I was vegan for 1 year so I have experience with plant-based nutrition and cooking dishes that follow these requirements. (I currently eat anything and everything though haha)
- I was raised in California! I know how to surf (albeit not very well) and I am a very strong swimmer; I love being near the ocean!
- I'm a dog lover! I've grown up with big dogs all my life and I love taking them on runs, super long walks, and I also have a lot of experience, in general, taking care of them. Some more information

I was so lucky to be welcomed by Eli and David and I immediately felt so at home. I stayed with them for 3 months (Sept-Nov) and I got to spend an amazing time getting to know Arlet and Ivet. They are two of the smartest girls I've ever met and they taught me probably more… read more
