  • Description

Hello, I am Rose, an osteopath from the UK.

I am seeking a way of living my life that is more in harmony with my body and the nature around me. My values are compassion for other beings (however many legs they have!), respect for nature and enjoyment of everything around us. I attended a Rudolf Steiner school when I was younger, which taught me how to treat and respect the Earth. I have been a vegetarian now for most of my life. I love finding the most resourceful and eco friendly way of doing things, it gave me a lot of satisfaction when I redid the back of my campervan from all salvaged materials!

I grew up in the countryside of England and before uni I went travelling for three years on and off. In this time I explored Australia, Fiji, Argentina, Chile, Brazil, Peru, Tenerife, Morocco, Thailand, New Zealand and Spain. And I hope to keep discovering more!

I love animals, being outside in nature, and learning new skills. My current hobbies are Batucada (Latin American) drumming, croqueting, building furniture from pallet wood (!), tramping and camping (tent or hut), cycling, kayaking, yoga and body resistance training, reading, making or altering clothes, finding live music, and experiencing the many many natural thermal pools here in New Zealand!

I have experience of using Workaway several times on my travels. On an organic farm where I tended to the plants and helped out around the farmhouse and with the animals. At renovating a tango hostel, we painted the rooms, cleaned out the flowerbeds and made sure the place was shipshape. And also at a guesthouse where I prepared breakfast for the guests, ensured the swimming pool and living area was tidy and presentable. There were also horses I helped clean out and ride. At a hostel, where I handled the changeover, cleaned and dealt with the money. I was also given the task of training up new volunteers when they arrived.

I enjoy working with others, and I enjoy working on my own. I fully understand and respect people personal space and time to theirselves. I am tidy, clean and easy going and appreciate Workaway for the special opportunities it opens up.

Alongside my studies, I worked as a massage therapist locally and at different festivals in the South East of England during the summers. I also have lots of experience in the customer service industry through my jobs such as retail, waitressing and bar work. Further jobs included being a laundry assistant in a elderly persons care home, a promotional salesperson for a branding company, and kids club rep for Tui Holiday Villages in Tenerife.
