Hello! My name is Rita and I plan on taking a semester off from school to travel. I currently work for a small local business that makes goat soap and lotion. I work on the farm cleaning the goat stalls, and also in the studio, cutting and stamping the soap, labeling products, updating photos on the website, and packaging orders. I have always been very fond of working with animals and love being out in nature. I know basic Spanish, although my conversational skills are not great, and I know some Portuguese, (having Portuguese heritage myself) and I am looking to improve in both languages. I am curious, thoughtful and a hard worker and I am hoping to challenge myself by getting out of my comfort zone. I enjoy drawing, painting, photography, music, reading, and writing. I want to travel in order to expand my world view and meet new people. Working out in nature away from technology has always brought me a clarity of mind that helps me focus on the things that really matter like our planet, friends and family.

My father immigrated from Portugal when he was a kid, and growing up he taught me a few words here and there but Ive always wanted to be fluent. I also have taken four years of Spanish class in school, however I lack real-world experience with speaking the language. I really enjoy learning about colloquialisms in specific regions and I also enjoy comparing languages and how they are similar/different; like Portuguese and Spanish. As I am fluent in english I could potentially teach it as well.

As I stated I have experience on a small goat farm doing general farm chores. I also have some experience on a horse farm that my sister works at. I have helped her feed the horses, chickens, and donkeys and refill their waters. I also have experience with pet-sitting and general house sitting. I always try to help out my mom in our small but unruly gardens.
