Hi everyone!

Introduction:
My name is Friederike, 25 years old, Geographer, living at the coast of the Baltic sea, I am starting my master studies in October 2024 and have recently quit my job because I need some fresh air before uni life starts again next year. I worked in urban planning but discovered that I like practical work (especially with people or outside) much more, hence I'm excited for all the opportunities that Workway-ing can bring!

Hobbies:
I love music (singing, accordion, guitar), taking walks in nature (especially in the forest), playing board games, drinking tea, helping my mum in her garden, chatting with my friends, reading books etc.

Personality:
I think I have a fun but calm personality. My family and friends like me because I make them laugh all the time, I am up for many activities, regularly check in with them to see how they're doing, always have an ear to listen and just enjoy spending time together. However, I need some regular me-time and enough sleep in order to recharge and be the best version of myself.

What makes me a good workawayer:
- I have quite some experience living with international hosts: I was an exchange student in Norway for one school year during high school and lived in a host family. I also stayed with my landlords during my exchange semester abroad in Canada and here in Germany, I have lived in shared apartments for the past six years. I know how to keep my environment tidy and that good communication is key!
- I am good with languages, I love teaching and being taught. See language section!
- I am a happy, empathetic, mindful, easy-going, funny and resourceful person.
- I like working woth people and I like doing practical stuff where I can see the result.

What I hope to receive from doing Workaway:

I speak fluent English and have an accent that's convinced English people that I am from England before. I state this here not to brag but to let you know that I am confident to teach English to you or your kids! I also speak Norwegian as well as German and am happy to help you getting started or reviewing your coursework if you're interested.

I have private and semi-professional experience working with children as well as teenagers. That is because I organize and team week-long arrival / mid year seminars each year for international students who arrive in Germany to spend a high school year abroad here. Furthermore, I am aunt to a 10-month old baby who only lives 10 minutes away and who I sometimes baby-sit.

I regularly help my mum in the garden (planting, harvesting, watering) and am able to do work in that area. I have also painted walls before, assembled furniture, fixed my bike (with help)... just small things, unfortunately. I would love to learn more!

I enjoy getting things done and seeing the result. Unfortunately, I have little experience starting my own gardening or handiwork projects, hence I would love to have some guidance on tasks at first and then expand my skills and independency as time progresses.

I generally like cleaning, tidying and organizing (I do!) because it makes every space more livable and breathable. I am not a pro but have no troubles with household tasks. I enjoy good food but my cooking is average.

What else ...

A good Workaway experience for me first and foremost means getting along really well on a personal level.

Other than that it would encompass staying with a family or a couple, helping in the garden, household and/or with taking care of your children. In addition, I would appreciate learning some new skill or developing an existing one (e.g. improving my Spanish/French, learning about eco-gardening/-farming, learning some handiwork).

I did not grow up with animals, so it takes me some getting used to dogs and bigger animals. I have, however, lived with cats and dogs before. :)
