  • Description

Hi! I'm Adriane, a former world traveler that is now looking around our beautiful country (US) for a place that I might stay, create and contribute to the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible (shout out if you also like Charles Eisenstein!). I'm from the DC suburbs, traveled to Rome to study abroad (which changed my life), graduated from UMD with a philosophy degree and then moved to Prague to teach English as foreign language (TEFL).

After a year in Prague, I went to live in San Francisco for many years before traveling again in Europe on my way to SE Asia, where I spent most of my time living in Kuala Lumpur. After 3 years away, I went back to SF for a few years before realizing in 2017 that city life was no longer for me. At that time, I traveled to Peru and Mexico and then decided to try the work-trade life. I have done many work-trades, mostly outside of Workaway, along with many odd jobs throughout this time. I got a 'regular' job again in 2019 but covid sent me right back to the work-trade life. I'm searching for new ways of being and seeing what people are doing out there. This has always fascinated me and driven my travel, but now it seems even more relevant and necessary.

Most of my life, I've worked in the hospitality industry as a server and bartender and less so as a TEFL teacher. After a health wake up call in 2010, I completely changed my diet and mindset and took up the paleo life. I taught myself how to cook everything from scratch, and I found I really enjoyed it. Hence I started cooking for people in various respects, even one time having a small meal delivery service in Malaysia. I truly enjoy my time creating in the kitchen and making highly nutritious and delicious meals! That has been my main role in work-trading these past years, though I have also helped in gardening, farming, cleaning, organizing, grocery shopping, running errands, building, and chopping wood along with some other things. My primary goal and interest going forward is to grow as much food as possible and eat as locally as possible, so a farm or homestead type situation would be ideal.

I also have a passion for creating all-natural skin care products and would love to produce my own line one of these days. A few other things I enjoy: yoga, music, reading- especially in a hammock in the sun-, dancing, plant medicines, nature as a 'farmacy', deep conversations, photography, astrology, human design, conscious gatherings, meditation, EFT, hiking and campfires. I am really into philosophy with a spiritual bent, and one of my newer fascinations is with the Ringing Cedars of Russia books. Please do get in touch if you are familiar with these books :)

Other things about me: I'm a clean and tidy person (virgo!) and can help you organize your space. I'm a bit of an introvert and will never get bored by myself, and also enjoy gathering around for a meal, a fire, music and some stimulating conversation. I have also managed to live car-free for nearly 20 years, ever since my travels started in earnest. So I am very used to living that way, but also will probably need a little help with transportation. Let's talk about how we can collaborate!

*I have no plans to travel abroad as of now. However, I am open to it for the right situation. If you are from elsewhere and happen to think I'd be a good fit, please do reach out :)
