  • Description

Hello we are Jim and Rahel.

hey my name is Rahel. I'm 20 years old and from Germany. After those long 20 years I lived near the Lake of Constance and went to a waldorf school I finally graduated last year. For those who don't know Waldorf schools, they are schools focused on teaching through practical work like gardening, forging and even bookbinding, with the general thought of bringing up students, which have individual, self-conscious and creative minds.

Since 8th grade I’ve had the urge to leave to experience some adventures which are more fascinating than my daily way to school and back or learning math. I think, life is long enough, so I want to spend my time outside of all these things I know, before I come back here for studying physics or philosophy or something like that.

I am eager to see new places and want to learn about all the possibilities I could have in my life that I'm not able to see here, in my home comfort zone. I want to find a ways to give something back, maybe in form of help and my capabilities I already have or maybe learn new ones which I hope I can teach someone I will meet someday.

Altogether I am a calm, empathetic and uncomplicated character. Due to the fact that the alps are close by, i have often been hiking in the mountains with my parents and friends since i was a child and i rediscover every time how much i appreciate the tranquility of nature and the beautiful places you find on the way. One day I want to learn to fly in some way, either a small beaver plane or paragliding and also climb mountains in the morning to enjoy the first coffee with a morning sun view and finish hiking the Padjelanta leden in Sweden and furthermore see the northern or southern lights properly.

    Hey, I am Jim
I am 24 years old, grew up in the black forest and worked as a graphic/webdesigner till I decided to move on to learn something new. Now im looking for new things to try out and learn. So I started learning things like mathematics, coding, electronics, gardening or wood chopping f.e.
I don’t really know where this will bring me but hey, its an interesting journey so far.

To make a living Im working as a freelance photographer, designer & video editor to earn some money. Besides that I really enjoy hiking, reading, photography, snowboarding, climbing, good coffee and doing all kinds of adventures best with some good friends.
My joy of life comes from little moments like a coffee in the morning with a view, a sunset on a mountain or a (crappy) meal after a long day of hiking. In addition finishing projects together like a fresh painted wall, a mucked out room, or a fresh harvest make me feel complete.

I’d describe myself as a calm and very friendly person. Im really interested in the the special knowledge every person carries around with them and like getting to know new subjects, things and skills. I like to share and help people so I'd be happy teach you computer things or photography for example if you want to. :) When im working im really trying to do my job responsible and the best I can.
My big little Life Dream is own a real treehouse one day.

  • More details about your skills

    Jim:
Through my apprenticeship as a graphic designer and my work experience as a webdesigner I can do most of the things that come with that f.e. creating corporate designs, designing all kind of of products like posters, flyers, menus and websites. Im also firm with Wordpress pages and have an understanding of the usual web programming languages.
Besides that I can take and edit professional photos and im working as a video editor from time to time.
While I don't have an apprenticeship in these skills I have basic skills in gardening and crafts like woodwork, to say I am firm the needed tools to get the job done.
In addition I have experience of (very unsuccessfully) growing foods hydroponically and programming different controls, sensor measurements with the Arduino platform.
I am eager to learn practical and mechanical things and if you teach me what to do I'm happy and thankful to learn. I'm not picky about work and I'll work the best I can.

    Rahel:
As a child of two gardeners I´m familiar with garden work and know a thing or two about different vegetables and what´s important for them to grow properly. In addition a few years ago my dad build a greenhouse and started working on a permaculture project, also with the idea of a movable/sliding greenhouse to cover changing seedbeds and grow vegetables longer. I find these ideas fascinating and I'd really like to work on further projects like this.
Because of my school, I have basic skills in crafts areas like blacksmithing, bookbinding, wicker basketry and all kinds of sewing, embroidery and knitting and I think I can teach a little as well if I remember. My father is a woodworker, so since i was little I was surrounded by and have worked with wood and tools, for example building shelves or gluing table tops, i can handle electric drill and plane etc. During my stay I Canada I learned to do firewood and work with a chainsaw and axe and learned to drive with a ATV/quad.
I'm interested in learning more about gardening and also mechanical skills and carpentry/construction.
Right know I´m working as an Barista in a specialty coffee café, so I learned a lot about coffee and how to make a good one, just in case you like coffee :).
I like to work with all that stuff and exchange knowledge to understand more and new connections and I'm happy to get to know new skills.
