My next destination:
New Zealand - from Oct 2022 until Jan 2025 View allDescription
Kia Ora i’m Rachel, a 26 year old Paediatric Nurse from England. I’ve been on quite a wander for the past year- honestly I wanted a break from busy city/working life!
I thought- when was the last time I did something for the first time? So I put on some hiking shoes and walked the Pacific Crest Trail in the US. I then came straight to New Zealand to hike Te Araroa! I’ve been living outside, with less, for over ten months now. It’s slowed my pace of life right down and made me appreciate the small things. Like squishy moss! And cool fungus!
Truly connecting with likeminded people brings me happiness- for me that is the LGBTQ+ community, fellow veggie/vegan humans, and those who love the outdoors and nature.
I’m interested in diving into a more sustainable lifestyle and learning new handy skills from fellow kind people. i’m on a bit of a journey of combining aspects of ‘trail life’ into a new everyday way of living. Hopefully I find a suitable fit on workaway to be part of this chapter :)Interests

I have experience in a weird array of areas such as paediatric nursing, teaching first aid and english, bar work, camp counselling, cleaning, and more recently- generally surviving in the outdoors whilst hiking for ten long, awesome months!
How do these skills fit into a workaway setting? I’m super adaptable and I LOVE people. I’m a listener and a talker. I can pick up on a room’s vibes/feelings pretty well. I’ve worked in some very fast paced, stressful environments but have always surprised myself with my ability to stay calm and collected. I’m not shy for learning new things and asking questions when i don’t understand something. I’m also more than happy to share and teach others new things!
I’ve missed cooking and baking whilst thru-hiking as I haven’t had access to any sort of ‘kitchen’ in a while! So I would be happy to share and learn some new recipes. I also love sharing art, music, poetry, writing, anything creative. I’m no pro at any of these, but I know that it’s what brings me some joy :)Age

What else ...
I’m always down for a games night, especially the kind that gather everyone around a campfire and get us being silly and giggling.
I love listening to and sharing music. Happy to deep dive into an hour+ long rambling with people about their favourite artists. Some more information
