I'm taking a little break from work life to travel, while finding fun ways to meet cool people and be of service.
Description
Hey there!
Thanks so much for stopping by, I'm glad you came. Please, stay a while.
My name's Piers, I'm an easy-going nerd with a heart of gold.
Simply, it's about time I took another break from my tech work as a consultant. In that, all work and no play makes Piers a dull boy!
I first stated using Workaway in 2017 with my girlfriend at the time, and have since had MANY experiences combining travel and volunteerism. It's such a treat, and aside from Couchsurfing, is far and away my favorite means of making meaningful travel memories.
I suppose you might also be wondering, "what makes this guy tick?"
Well, I'm an avid outdoors-man, and frequently like getting away to spend nights in the woods. I cycle every chance I get, and love spending time in the saddle. I have an artistic side that expresses itself through drawing and painting. And I'm also a secret musician, teaching myself to make noise that sometimes sounds pleasing on the guitar.
I'm generally quite laid back, though certainly not without my enthusiastic side. I have a curious mind, I'm a nerd, and deeply enjoy real conversation. I also love to ask people how they're "really" doing. So often people ask "Hey, how are you?" without really meaning it. I am not one such person, and believe the world would be such a better place if we all learned to really answer that questions more honestly.
I think listening is my super power.
So yeah, if you like what you've read and you get a message from me inquiring about your availability...I'd be thrilled to death to come and participate.
Thank you!Interests

Overall my stay was quite positive. The staff are very friendly, the location is great for nature lovers, I was quite well fed, the other volunteers were cool people, and the general manager Wojciech was really good about organizing little trips in the area.

I went to see how to plaster straw bale houses using clay. I learned a lot, because that's mostly what I went to help with. It's dirty and hard work, but very interesting to see their process. By the time I left… read more
