Hi!

I am Peter, a 24 year old man from Ireland. I have been travelling now for over 5 months and had some amazing Workaway experiences - namely in three dog shelters.

All of the dog shelters were brilliant experiences, and ones which I will cherish every day. Looking after 140 dogs daily in one shelter, to 45 in the next, and carrying out tasks like feeding, walks, medications etc. It truly revitalised my soul and did not feel like work at all.

At my most recent Workaway, the work tended to be more so handyman-type work. I spent a lot of time putting up fencing, making repairs, concreting, or chasing a goose to his pen to receive his breakfast!

My passions include caring for dogs, travelling, and taking in new cultures. I love meeting new people, I believe strong social interactions and connections are the key to a happy life. I feel like we all need people to help us through the challenges of being a human. That was what was so special about my previous Workaway in Valencia. We all helped each other through any physical or emotional problem we found ourselves in, and I believe there is great strength in that. I also feel that my Workaway experiences won't be limited to only dog shelters! I would love to experience other hosts and ways of living.

I was very lucky to have made some very close friends on my past Workaways, many of whom I have travelled with later, and I can't wait to make more. Learning about other cultures and viewpoints interests me greatly. I believe there is a great big world out there and I'll be damned if I don't see it!!

I love to help people as well as animals. Making someone laugh is a beautiful thing to do, and I feel I can do that pretty well!!

I am a hardworking, passionate, and reliable person who can follow instructions.

Sometimes there are people who come to the project and adapt perfectly to it, positioning themselves in certain areas and advancing and resolving aspects of them. Sometimes everything happens so comfortably that you almost don't even notice, because everything is so easy and enjoyable. And this is what happened with Peter during his stay here.… read more Peter immediately began working with the fencing in the field, and quickly became a fixture on this team, having different volunteers work with him on a rotating basis at times, and working alone at other times, and quickly advancing the repairs and necessary advances on the topic in question.

Peter is a super calm and pleasant person who got along very well with all the other volunteers with whom he shared a stay. I will remember him fondly for the questions he used to ask me around the fire, always with that curiosity loaded with affection and humor in equal parts.

Additionally, Peter became friends with each and every dog on the project, walking difficult dogs that we have separated and creating a close bond with Koa, a rescue dog who fell as madly in love with him, as he did with her.

Peter, you already know, this is your home, we wish you good luck on your adventures but we also hope to see you again. And you, Host who are reading me, don't miss this opportunity to meet this wonderful person!

A veces hay personas que llegan al proyecto y se adaptan perfectamente al mismo, posicionándose en determinadas áreas y avanzando y resolviendo aspectos de las mismas. A veces todo sucede de forma tan cómoda que casi ni te das cuenta, porque todo se hace muy fácil y ameno. Y esto es lo que paso con Peter en su estancia aquí. Peter enseguida empezó a trabajar con el vallado en el terreno, y rápidamente paso a ser una persona fija en este equipo, teniendo a distintos voluntarios trabajando con el rotativamente a veces, y trabajando solo por su cuenta otras, y haciendo avanzar rápidamente las reparaciones y avances necesarias en el tema en cuestión.

Peter es una persona super calmada y agradable que congenio muy bien con todos los demás voluntarios con los que compartió estancia. Lo recordare con simpatía por las preguntas que solía hacerme alrededor del fuego, siempre con esa curiosidad cargada de cariño y humor a partes iguales.

Además, Peter se hizo amigo de todos y cada uno de los perros del proyecto, paseando a perros complicados que tenemos separados y creando un estrecho vinculo con Koa, una perrita rescatada que se enamoro tan locamente de el, como el lo hizo de ella.

Peter, ya lo sabes, esta es tu casa, te deseamos mucha suerte en tus aventuras pero también esperamos verte de nuevo. Y tu, Host que me estas leyendo, no desaproveches esta oportunidad de conocer a esta maravillosa persona!.

Wow... what an experience. I did not intend to stay as long as I did, but with the incredible people, dogs and host, I ended up staying two months.

Raul is an amazing guy with a wonderful energy. He will listen to any concerns or ideas you have and allows you the freedom to learn and grow your skill set

Peter loved our dogs and cats wholeheartedly, was giving them lots of love and attention throughout his stay.
Easygoing, friendly, always on time for the shift. Except for the mandatory tasks he was also helping us with social media, posting our dogs on Instagram, which we highly appreciate.

Had a great time there! Compared to previous shelters I have been, they assign you a lot of responsibility and show their trust in you completely.
