Description
My name is Masahiko Kawaraguchi. I live with my wife and our dog in Fukuoka City, Japan. Basically I am a pentioner and house husband, so I have a lot of free time. I had been a high school English teacher for 42 years until I finally retired three years ago. Under the influence of Covid 19 pandemic I could not travel freely both demestic and abroad. Out of boredam, I took some odd jobs at a spa, fish market, and bakery, which proved that I am still some use for other people.

Considering my age, I cannot say that a vast future in front of me, but now I have a lot of time and energy to use for other people, and I hope I can learn more about life and enjoy the process.

I want to refresh my mind and body before I get too old. To do so, I wish to do different things than what I had been doing these 42 years as a teacher in Japan:
1. I live in a big city; therefore, I would like to stay in nature or a smaller town.
2. I taught in a classroom; therefore, I would like to work outdoors or in the real world.
3. I have lived in Japan, where most people around me are Japanese; therefore, I would like to experience life in a foreign country.
4. I had been teaching reading and writing English. As a result, I am not confident in conversational English; therefore would like to brush up on my English and become more fluent in real life.

I can communicate in English. Japanese is my native language. I can teach both languages; I am a certified high school English teacher, and, as for Japanese, I introduced the language at a Vietnamese university for a semester.

Though I am just an ordinary Japanese male and am not a macho type, I am pretty healthy; the electric “smart” scale in my bathroom tells me that my health age is 53. Compared to other men of my age, I am pretty fit. I also have a cheerful and adaptable personality, without which you cannot get along well with Japanese high school students. Though I will not be able to lecture on Japanese traditional culture professionally nor demonstrate a special dance, I am sure you can see what an average modern Japanese person is like through me. Last but not least, I can show you JAPANESE DILIGENCE. I think I have proved this by trying volunteer programs in the UK, France, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Laos , Thailand, and Malaysia so far.

I am planning to visit Europe now.

This was a really wonderful experience for me. I was able to catch a glimpse of the lovely life I had never thought of before.
