Description
Hello everyone,
We are setting up our own Food forest on our land of +/- 1 hectare, and a greenhouse (with a 'climate battery') for starting a plant nursery.
The food forest is our big dream, having a permaculture where all types of different plants, (fruit)trees, herbs, etc can grow organically. That we can be self-sufficient, working & living in harmony with nature.
At the moment there aren't enough plant nurseries for typical Food Forest plants, to keep up with the demand for plants. We want to start a small scale nursery to fix that problem. Also, it can provide us with some extra income.
Jolanda is a friendly, enthusiastic and hands-on person. She is currently working for a big multinational but wants to take on a different path in her life, more in line with values of sustainability and respect for the environment and animals. She is good at taking care of animals (she has had many different ones, ao goats/rabbits/dog/cats/guinea pigs/horse, when she was young), she knows how to take care of land (weeding, gardening, etc) and she is a great cook (vegan).
Paul is a friendly, creative thinker. He is setting up our Food forest and greenhouse, takes care of our vegetable garden, likes working with wood (and other renewable natural materials) in a variety of ways and makes sure there is wood for our stove to heat our house (chopping, cutting, etc..). He is a certified dog trainer and he is as fond of dogs as dogs are of him.
We are a happy couple already together since 2000, when we were still teenagers. Our own eco-house is completely built out of sustainable or re-usable materials and we enjoy it every day. We like to hike, play board games and try new things. We live a sustainable lifestyle which is 100% vegan and always try to make conscious decisions when buying or using anything. We are tidy and reliable.
We don't have pets of our own anymore. Even though it goes against our own past regarding to (keeping) animals, we have become convinced that every animal has the right to live it's life in a natural way, and therefore should not be caged or fenced by humans. A mutual beneficial co-existense with animals could be possible, but sadly we haven't seen much of this during our travels nor in our surroundings.
That being said, we are in favor of animal sanctuaries as we also believe that animals that have been treated badly deserve a good life. This only goes for non-commercial sanctuaries. A sanctuary that starts to become a zoo for the entertainment of humans is against our principles.
We are happy to share our thoughts with you regarding to this. It's a complex subject which is not easy to explain in a short text on a profile.
Thank you for taking the time to read our profile and we look forward to hearing from you!
We will be excited to join your project and learn from and contribute to it.Interests

Feedback
Having them on the project exceeded our expectations.
You can put them on a task, walk away and be happily surprised when you come back. They take directions very well.
We are very thankful for this encounter and will be very happy to welcome them again… read more
