  • Description

Howdy! We are Moorea (22) and Noah (25), accompanied by our four legged companions Buddy (14) and Mowgli (2). We currently find ourselves in Central Oregon (right around Bend) wrapping up seasonal jobs. Despite both being nomads for our entire adult lives, we've fallen in love with Oregon and are looking to put down roots in the state. And while we're ready to settle down, we are determined to avoid re-entering the mainstream American way. Instead, seeking a community (no matter how big or small) that nurtures a symbiotic relationship to the land and ALL of its inhabitants.
Noah's past work-trading experiences gives us hope that such a community can be discovered through the Workaway platform.

Hailing from the mountains of Lake Tahoe, Moorea enjoys all things outdoors. She feels most at home when she is surrounded by flora, fauna and funga. She feels most fulfilled when facing new challenges and exploring the realm beyond her comfort zone. Her work experience has ranged from animal care and training to building terrain parks for ski resorts. She is a novice mushroom forager, yogi and gardener, and welcomes any opportunity to further these skills. Having lived nomadically (in a school bus, then a RV), Moorea finds it difficult to return to the disconnect of mainstream living. Instead she hopes to cultivate a lifestyle filled with community, connection and intention.

Since leaving his Connecticut hometown as a teenager, Noah has been living as a nomad predominantly in the United States, with a few stints abroad. His adventures have mainly consisted of hurricane relief work (with NGOs & government agencies), work-trading, and seasonal gigs. Through these experiences, Noah has become a jack of many trades with an affinity for working with his hands and problem solving. He is always happy to lend his hand and knowhow on new builds, renovations, landscaping projects, and anything in between. While the majority of Noah's experience is in the realm of construction/maintenance, his real passion lies in working with animals and the land. More than anything, he wants to be part of a shift towards ecocentrism and away from the anthropocentric mentality that has shaped our modern world. From a heart of compassion, Noah hopes to discover how he can best contribute to this much needed paradigm shift.

With an abundance of communal living experience and an aptitude for adaptation, we're confident we can smoothly join your space. It would be our pleasure to join you and your family/community. We hope to bring our plentiful energy to your project(s) and are excited for all we can learn in the process. Thanks for taking the time to read our profile and we look forward to connecting with you :)

    FYI:
At this time, the four of us (2 humans, 2 dogs) are living in a 27ft travel trailer. We intend to move on from this housing situation in the near future, but would be happy to utilize it during our stay with you if necessary.

-Creating/contributing to an inclusive and loving environment (people are my passion and I always try my best to make those around me feel loved and valued)

-Child Care (I have so much fun connecting and playing with youth. I believe there is so much to learn from children! I will always feel like a child at heart so I have a real passion for creating a fun, safe, and creative space for kids)

-Emergency Medical Services (I was formally a certified EMT. Truthfully, my knowledge and skills are a bit rusty as I have allowed my certification to lapse. BUT, I have retained a good amount of what I learned in my studies and feel comfortable caring for others in emergency medical situations)

-Landscaping (planting, mowing, mulching, weed wacking, etc.)

-Harvesting (only have experience with asparagus harvesting but I am physically capable of spending long days in the field and very eager to gain more agricultural experience)
