We've finally done it!! After GCSE and Alevel exams and months of hard work we are free to live out our hopes and dreams, one of them being travelling...
Hi there, our names are Noah and Nicola from the United Kingdom and from January 5th 2025, we are travelling around South East Asia and Oceania, visiting Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong kong and Indonesia together. As a couple we have found a passion for travel together whether that be a trip to turkey or travelling around by train in Poland, this feels like the next best step. We found workaway through some friends who shared to us about their amazing experiences travelling this way and cannot wait to start :)
Noah:
I have always been interested in different cultures, meeting interesting people and trying new things. From and early age I was travelling around the world with my family and learning things from my parents who have also travelled to far flung locations. One of my first experiences of working and volunteering in a foreign country was in Ghana where I flew out to volunteer in Nako school. This highlighted my passion for teaching and education, driving to the school everyday for 10 days and helping out with lessons and sharing experiences with the local children and the teachers, picking up skills such as teaching English . Working in a rural setting such as this with children who have nothing but seem to have the greatest spark of life that I have seen, really motivated me to do it again and I got that opportunity in Kenya last year, it was a mix of teaching and maintenance such as painting in a local school and again it was an amazing experience and something I highly recommend to others. Therefore in Thailand I would love to volunteer in a local school to further enhance my skills and give back to another community.
Nicola:
Travelling the world and exploring new cultures has always been a passion of mine. I am bilingual speaking English and Polish causing me from a very early age to be exposed to two contrasting cultures. My parents have always stressed the importance of opening myself up to the world and with this mindset I have been able to visit and explore many countries. In 2022 I volunteered in the Sian Ka'an biosphere reserve Mexico, helping locals with general maintenance of the reservatory and the well-being of the animals. Experiences like this have made me very open and excited to volunteer in different places.
