Hello!

We are Nick and Alisha, and we're very excited by the potential to share our many skills and adventures with you! We met in 2022 year while volunteering with our local community center, and have since created many delicious memories together; such as off-grid camping, scuba diving, rock climbing, and backpacking throughout Europe. We both believe in the power of community, which is why we're so excited to continue growing our relationship through Workaway!

Nick has used Workaway many times in the past. He has used the platform to provide first aid in Uganda, manage a skydiving festival in Kenya, grow/sell produce in Hawaii, and even learned how to cook and white water raft in his own backyard - Canada! After spending a number of years as a traveler, entrepreneur, and social worker, Nick decided to broaden his intellectual development by attending law school in beautiful Swansea, Wales, UK.

Alisha is new to Workaway and starting to spread her travel wings! She's living in Montreal, Quebec, but eager to explore more of Canada and the rest of the world through Workaway with Nick or on her solo adventures. After working in research for a leading Canadian university, Alisha is continuing to advance her education through a masters of nursing program. Alisha is passionate about expanding her community's circle of care to marginalized persons.

Nick is about to embark on his third, and sadly last year, of law school in South-West Wales. He will be writing his dissertation this fall and aims to explore as much of Wales as possible during his remaining time in this breathtaking country. Alisha is still mastering the art of nursing, but hopes to rejoin Nick on another adventure in the near future.

This was a quintessential workaway experience! Joanna and Didier have created a wonderful environment that is full of love, humor, and good food for all who stay. Our expectations were consistently surpassed during our awesome ten-day stay.

Joanna,… read more Didier, and their two adorable children - Felix and Lucie - all made us feel welcome and safe from the start. We were delighted to have been invited to a wonderful guitar performance by Lucie and had the privilege of Felix's guidance up a mountain hike. We often felt less like 'workawayers' and more like family.

Lunch and dinner was always shared around the dining table. The food was delicious, plentiful, and provided a great opportunity to share laughs and cultural insights. There is a wonderful kitchen available for use, so if you enjoy cooking and sharing your country's cuisine, you will feel right at home.

We had a very impressive private room and bathroom to ourselves. We always felt like we had more than enough privacy and comfort. The accommodation was hands-down better than most hotels we booked on our trip!

The work was very fair. We helped cook, prepare an AirBnB, look after Felix and Lucie, but primarily pulled weeds/brush on their beautiful property. Some of the weeds/brush have thorns, so we suggest bringing a ratty pair of work clothes. Joanna was very accommodating if we needed to alter our work. We always felt treated with respect and the tasks were clear and straightforward.

We had the weekends off, and frequently made use of two available cycles to head down to the beautiful, and relatively close beach, in Argeles-sur-Mer. Be warned, it is a pretty rocky bike down the mountain and a steep bike back up! Walking is still a pleasant alternative. It's only a 45 -60 minute trip by foot and the scenery is gorgeous. Definitely check out the nearby town of Collioure. It was probably the cutest French town we saw during our trip and fairly close to the house. The house has plenty of space and modern comforts. One can easily spend a whole day enjoying the beautiful grounds or lounging by the pool during their time off.

Our only complaint was that it was so hard to leave! If you are considering reaching out to Joanna and Didier, do not think twice. You have come across a very special family that works hard to bring the values of Workaway to life. We miss them already.

Nick stayed at our place for 10 days.
He came at the right time to cut down all the dried up grass and herbs of my huge garden before the heat and fire risks come.
He also build me a huge planter made out of concreteblocks which came out perfectly.
He was such a big help for me.
