I am interested in experiencing sustainable ways of living. The idea of living off the land is an alluring one, I want to see how it works in practice - gardening (permaculture), living off-grid, etc.
Description
Following a couple years of office work and am hoping to travel to exercise my newfound freedom - utilizing workaway to explore new ways of living, acquire new skills, and expand my worldview. Another intention of mine is to explore potential places to relocate through my travels in 2024.

I am an American from Alaska who has lived in Ethiopia, Ukraine, Central African Republic, Jordan and Lebanon as well as Alabama, Massachusetts, California, Wyoming, and DC in the U.S.. I have a background in environmental science, cartography, geospatial data science, and humanitarian response.

My adventurousness is driven by a deep sense of curiosity. I enjoy being outside of my comfort zone, meeting new people, and learning new ideas.

I previously used workaway in 2019 while in Mexico where I created maps for an ecolodge and a youth hostel in exchange for food and accommodation. I would love to create more maps to build my portfolio - however I am also interested in engagements which are more hands-on and realted to the homesteading life-style.

I have experience working with new US citizens arriving as refugees from Africa. I have experience coordinating youth programs, and leading permagarden trainings ( I have a permagardening certification), maintaining a fruit tree nursery as a Peace Corps volunteer. I currently work making maps to inform the humanitarian process for crisis coordination.
I would love to design maps or informational products for your organization! I am also longing to work with my hands doing some sort of physical work. Also, just helping others at a hostel or something would be wonderful.

Nara was helping us a lot at the Hostel, she created a map for our back packers, now it´s very easy to explain them the point of interest and spots to go. Thank you for your creativity and to beeing part of the family, so if you looking for having a cool map at your place, she is the right one.

The hostel is super chill!!! I worked here to make a map to orient guests. Erick was super accommodating, allowing me as much time as I needed to get it done right. This place is beautiful! The property is well maintained and is super lush and sort of close to the beach. It has a pool, hot tub, and sauna and is off the beaten path away from PV's chaos. Hector and his workers are very kind and friendly. I had a nice time staying there!
