Hi I love everything to do with nature and ecology. I used to work as a tour guide in Israel and i have a lot of experience in education. I'm also very skilled with guitar and art and enjoy teaching both.

I'm a verry skilled artist. I know How to paint, sketch... I can also do very nice stencil work. I know how to work with wood and metal.
I'm a very good guitar player and I can teach both electric and acoustic. I have lots of patience for teaching children because I'm a school teacher. I am in the middle of my studies for a degree in education.

I spent around two weeks with Jenny and Mabel and I enjoyed my stay very much. They are very welcoming and caring hosts! I felt very much at home in their house. They both also really went out of their way to help me with my trip, whether it was planning, recommending nice places for me to see, connecting me with tour guides and agencies, and even… read more driving me around. Jennifer even took me on an incredible hike to Chandama falls! it was a great experience. They would also check up on me to see how I was doing during the rest of my trip.
The land on the farm is very nice. They have lots of different fruit trees, streams and a few acres that are dedicated for conservation. I saw plenty of wildlife on the land including tucans, iguanas, parrots, squirrels, armadillos and lots of sloths! Its also a very nice place to stay if you like the company of animals because they have two very sweet dogs and one very sweet kitten, all of whom are very friendly. The animals demand a lot of attention and there’s is no getting away from it :) so you really need to be ok with that.
Although I had a very nice time, I dont think this workaway is a platform for meeting other travelers. I was the only workawayer there and at most they have room for two people. However it could be nice for a couple. Also this is not a touristic area of the country which means there are nearly no English speakers in the town. So if you don't speak Spanish, you could feel a little isolated. But if you are fluent in Spanish and are looking to connect with locals in a very nice place, this could be it.
There are plenty of amazing nature trails in the area although they are at around 40 minutes driving distance from La Colonia. But like I said, Jenny and Mabel are more than willing to help out! also because these trails are not in a very touristic area, you will get to see unique things that only locals really get to see and that's pretty cool.
My hosts were also very flexible and understanding. If you want to take a few days off to go travel and come back they would be fine with it!
All in all I think this place is most suited for you if you are fluent in Spanish or traveling by car or maybe if you are a couple. If your a lone backpacker who speaks English like myself, you may find it a little more challenging. But either way you will definitely have a nice time there!
