Hola!
My name is Mona, Monita para mis amigos. I'm a 30 years old human from a tiny country famous for its beer and chocolate, called Belgium. At 22, I decided to hit the road, made my backpack my home, and I've been traveling ever since.
I love meeting new people, having deep conversations, and debates. Every day is a school day, and I want to learn as much as possible. I want to discover and experience new things to open my mind and immerse myself in different cultures to gain insight into this beautiful world we live in :)
I'm a spiritual person and try to implement that in my daily life by meditating and practicing yoga. My dream is to buy a piece of land, build a little (hobbit) house, and create a beautiful community of kindred spirits, living sustainably off the land surrounded by nature.
I believe I am a positive and fun spirit, and what I lack in skills, I make up for with enthusiasm for learning new things. I'm trustworthy and respectful, and I'll give myself fully to this Workaway experience :)
I have done a few different Workaway/Helpx/volunteer projects:
- I've volunteered in hostels as a receptionist and cleaner.
- I spent 6 months volunteering on a hobby farm as part of a citizen service project, where I took care
of the animals and taught kids about farm life.
- I've completed another Workaway that also involved animals and young children.
- I volunteered for a year back home at a small charity that made activist documentaries.

I'm a yoga instructor , I have completed my 200H in 2019 and my 500H in 2023 and I'm completing a 50h Yin Yoga course at the moment. I have teaching experience (2 years). I've also just completed an Ayurveda massage course in January 2025. I would love to find project combining my love for yoga and ayurveda.
During my years of travel , I did a lot of diverses jobs . I've been a cook in a vegan restaurant in Montreal , I did my fair share of dishwashing and waitressing . I've been a housekeeper and also did a bit of receptionist work and did a few months of Farm Work as fruit picker in Australia. I was also a sales attendant in a supermarket and in a jewlerry shop.
I've worked 6 months in a hobby farm where I was teaching kids about farm life and nature and taking care of the animals, so I'm comfortable with kids and animals.
