  • Description

I am an eager environmentalist and artist. I am passionate about sustainability and am eager to learn new ways to improve my lifestyle and reduce my environmental impact as well as participate in broader environmental projects. I enjoy time spent in nature and with animals. I am graduating college with an double major in environmental science and studio double. My focus in art is on ceramics where I create both sculptural work and with functional ware.
I am eager to travel to almost any place and would love to learn new languages. I am excited about the opportunities that workaway provides to see different ways of life. My father was born and raised in Italy. I speak a small bit of Italian but greatly desire to learn more.
This is my first time on workaway, but I have been to places around the world for traveling. I have spent most of my time abroad in Italy but I have also been to other parts of the world including Korea, Japan, Belize, Costa Rica, and Scotland. I have volunteered for different organizations including a therapeutic horse back riding facility where I taught differently abled people, ages 3-25, how to ride horses as well as cleaned and maintained the horse barn to create safe environment for horses and students. I have also volunteered for a gardening organization at my college where we planted, maintained, and harvested crops like corn, tomatoes, beans, and squash.

  • More details about your skills

I am a very handy person who loves to take on a challenge to fix something, learn something new, help someone else, and be a part of the surrounding community. When my sweater gets a hole in it, I learn how to mend it by creating a woven patch. When my mom wants to install a new night fixture, I research how to do it properly. When my boyfriend wants a haircut, I watch videos from professional haircutters and give it a try.
I am graduating from The College of Wooster in 2026 with a double major in environmental science and studio art.
For my environmental studies degree, a significant achievement was the completion of a year and a half long research project where I studied the effects of fungal inoculants and biofertilizers on lavender grown in stressed conditions. This involved planting, monitoring, and caring for 128 lavender plants. I wrote a thesis paper that discued and project and the findings of the research, defended this thesis to a committee, and presented my research at a symposium.
For my studio art degree, a significant achievement was the completion of a body of an artistic body of work developed over a year and half that culminated in an exhibition of my work in a gallery at my college. I wrote a thesis to support my work and defended it to a committee of professors. My body of work was mainly sculptural ceramic pieces but also included photographs and videos that I had taken and edited using adobe photoshop and adobe premiere. I have experience with creating sculptural ceramics and wheel thrown functional ceramics. I was the teachers assistant for the ceramics department for 3 and a half years during my time at college where I worked closely with the ceramics professor. I taught wheel throwing and glazing techniques to intro students, mixed glazes that were used in class, and loaded and fired students work in electric kilns one a week throughout the academic year.
I worked for the Office of Sustainability at the College of Wooster where I designed and managed a campus coffee grounds compost at the campus garden where coffee grounds from the three cafes on campus could be composted. I also worked with my peers and the College of Wooster Director of Sustainability to make the campus more sustainable through student education, hosting sustainability events, and implementing programs.
I have a cat and have been responsible for taking care of many of my neighbors and friends pets while they were on vacation. I am attentive to animals and care about their wellbeing, making me well suited to take care of them. I have some gardening knowledge as my family has a small garden where we grow vegetables. I also volunteered for my colleges gardening organization where I helped plant, maintain and harvest crops. I have some experience cooking and want to become better and learn new recipes from around the world.
My native language is English. I have experience sharing English with non-native speakers as my fathers native language is Italian and my boyfriends native language is Korean. I speak some Spanish which I learned in school for about 6 years. I speak a bit of Italian but would really like to improve. I speak a tiny bit of Korean and can read Hangul.
