Hey !
My name is Merlin, I'm from southern France, rooted near Marseille and with a deep love-bond with Aveyron, in south-west France, and I'm looking for new adventures to add to expand my vision of the world further more :)
With my best friend Aaron we are starting a new year of work, travel and fun so we will be delighted to work with you !
We both like listening to music from the 50s until current music (I would actually like to learn to play instruments, and my friend Aaron plays guitar and sings), talk about feelings, politics, art, photography, and more importantly we love to learn about new cultures and ways to see the world by meeting people and really talk with them. I really like analog photography and I plan to really get deeper into this practice, exploring color and black and white films. I have actually recently won a photography contest, which really motivates me to continue that way !
I love to socialize and I am (I mean, we are, Aaron is actually worse than me) really chatty and we love to have a laugh anytime we can ! I am lucky to have travelled a lot before, thus I woud be more than happy to share this with you.
My academic experience: This is for us a gap year inbetween our studies: I have gratuated in 2022 from the International High School Georges Duby, where I learned to master English and German with my 'Abibac', and then decided to travel to Brussels for the pursuit of my studies. There, I got a Bachelor Degree in Political Science at the ULB (Free University of Brussels). This year, I want to get more creative and assimilating non-academic experiences before getting into a Master Degree - or else ?
My name is Aaron, I am born and raised in the south of France, in Marseille. I’m passionate about analog photography and shoot both 35mm and medium format film. I also create short films—my latest is a 10-minute documentary about a gardian (traditional cowboy) from the Camargue, a region in southern France known for its wild landscapes and rich traditions.
I have a deep love for photography, cinema, and music of all kinds, from all cultures and styles. I’m always curious to learn about new cultures, to discover different atmospheres, landscapes, ways of living, and styles of dress. I’m especially drawn to the old—vintage objects and clothing full of history and character truly inspire me.
My recent one-month trip to Vietnam was my first long-haul experience. A highlight was spending a week in a remote village with the Red Dzao tribe, where I had the chance to connect with the community, learn about their traditions, and document daily life through photography. This journey gave me a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity and strengthened my desire to travel with purpose and curiosity.
I am really social and I love talking with people, learning from them and have timeless discussions. This is maybe what characterize me the most - my interest to people.
My academic experience: After graduating with highest honors in Aix-en-Provence, at La Nativité High School, I earned a Bachelor's degree in Cinema, but I wanted to make a more personal project for this year, with my friend Merlin.
We will be more than happy to share our experiences with you, and moreover to learn from yours :)

Merlin: I am very much interested in languages: I have actually passed my "Bac" which is the secondary school exam in France, in both French and German, so I have my Bac and my Abitur. I have a very good level in French (I mean, it is my native language), English and therefore German. I have done an Erasmus in Rome last year so I have learned some Italian, even though I am still far from being fluent. I also studied Spanish at my University. I will be very pleased to teach any language, but I am also very interested to learn a new one or deepen my knowledge of those I can already talk ! Aaron: I am also very much interest in learning/teaching a language ! I speak french (obviously), and I also ave a very good level in English, although I want to improve my skills. I really like talking with people, I can have long conversations about any subject, because I am really interested in the people I meet, and this is a way for me to create strong bonds.

Merlin: I work every summer in the fields and greenhouses, doing all type of stuff : from collecting potatoes to carrying heavy buckets full of melons or zucchinis, or removing invasive plants. The summer being really hot in southern France, I am used to work in hard conditions.
I am very pleased around animals, and coming from a family of farmers I would love to learn how to take care of cattle, sheeps, or any else. My interests for languages and art may interest you, since I can teach or create in English, French and German easily.
I can also do domestic work, such as to tinker, babysitting (I have a sister 7 years younger than me, so I am kid of used to it), or anything that could help you !
Aaron: I have worked in several , working at La Taverne de Platon in Aix-en-Provence, a unique cabinet of curiosities and antique shop, where I developed my eye for detail and appreciation for art objects. I also worked for a year and a half at Kiloshop Aix-en-Provence, a second-hand vintage clothing store selling by weight. There, I gained valuable experience in customer service and retail, especially in the vintage fashion sector. Currently, I work as a freelance photo and video content creator for a real estate agency in Provence.
I have gotten throughout the years a pretty good level of English, so I will be able to communicate with you easily and maybe teach some of what I know (French, photography, social media, tinkering, etc.). Doing physical tasks won't be a problem for me, since I workout frequently and I am used to give a hand to my grandparents that live just next door.
During my time in northern Vietnam, I spent a week volunteering at Biki’s Jungle Homestay, located in the heart of a Red Dzao village in the mountains of Ha Giang. My tasks included teaching basic to local students English, helping with cooking and cleaning, and taking photos to support the homestay’s social media. It was a rewarding experience that allowed me to give back to the local community while learning more about their daily life and culture in an authentic setting.

We'd love to do a photographic an video project while with you, since we are both into the 'image'. We would do portraits, show landscapes, and tell somehow a story we'd learn from you if that's okay.

They welcomed us warmly and taught us a lot about Danish culture and were very interested about our own. They naturally shared their lifestyle with us, cooked wonderful meals (like delicious pizzas on Friday) and were very patient when it came to explain each task we had to do!
