  • Description

    Hi there!👐
    Let us introduce ourselves:

We’re Maja and Olek (short for Aleksander), a couple from Poland looking for some new experiences, knowledge, skills and friends!
After a few years of studying in a big city, we decided to take a one-year break from that fast and stressful life, and during this year to travel, learn about other cultures, meet new people, exchange views and experiences, create memories, try different lifestyles, engage in a meaningful work and just learn a lot - new skills, new experiences, practice languages, overcome our insecurities and fears, to come back stronger, braver and wiser. To know what we value and want in our lives.

We warmly invite you to learn a little more about us😇

We’re both Christian, together for almost two years but known each other for almost four. We’re friendly, helpful, hardworking and honest. We have a strong sense of responsibility and want to be reliable to everyone that trusts us.

    Maja:
I'm a classical musician with deep love to all that's beautiful, good and true. I like deep conversations, thinking about all the things, making connections between anything that's possible, imagining possible future scenarios or noticing patterns. I also enjoy learning and getting some knowledge about anything, reading books, sight-seeing, mountain hiking, kayaking and recently I'm learning how to crochet. Huge fun of summer, sun and good weather, and the biggest lover of ice-cream ever!
I'm the oldest of four siblings and I think it shows in many of my characteristics, like strong sense of responsibility, but also liking the peace and quiet which you sometimes lack in a big family😅

    Olek:
I study neuroinformatics and I’m fascinated by how the brain works and how technology can help us understand it. I’ve even had a chance to work for some time at the Polish Academy of Sciences, which taught me many things but mainly how exhausting science can be😅
I grew up in the countryside, so being around nature and doing practical work feels very natural to me. I also have some recently acquired sewing skills🧵🪡
I enjoy a good book, especially a sci-fi or a fantasy one, solving riddles and also tasks that need a bit of creativity. I’m calm by nature and usually approach things with a “let’s figure it out and get it done” attitude.
One of my biggest hobbies is cooking. I love experimenting in the kitchen and for the past few years I’ve been an enthusiastic amateur pizzaiolo - always trying to perfect the dough and the sauce🍕🍅

We're excited to meet new people, learn new skills and give our best to every opportunity we’re offered. We’d be happy to help however we can - whether it’s around the house, in the garden, at your business or in creative or educational projects😄

Looking forward to hearing from you!
    Warm greetings from Poland 🇵🇱

    Our skills and experience:

    Maja:
I have a bachelor degree in music (specifically oboe), I finished a course and have worked as a church organist for five years now, I've given singing lessons at choir workshops a few times, I've also taught the music theory and the basics of playing the piano.
My other working experience includes customer service as a worker in a clothes shop and as a receptionist in a medical clinic, childcare including toddlers and young kids and animating for teenagers, I also have pedagogical qualifications as a part of my degree.
I've done some heavy cleaning and preparations for the renovation, not to mention regular cleaning, laundry, cooking, and other house chores which I'm completely familiar with, both as a person from a big family and as a student living away from home.

    Olek:
During my studies and work, I have developed technical skills, especially in programming and working with data. I mainly work in Python and I’m happy to help with basic IT tasks or technical support if needed.
I also have experience in customer service - I worked at a hotel reception and as a hotel driver, helping with guest logistics and everyday organization. This taught me how to stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly and take responsibility for people and tasks.
Growing up in the countryside and previous Workaway experiences made comfortable with manual work such as house painting, demolition, gardening, maintenance and everyday chores.
I enjoy helping wherever I’m needed and I’m not afraid of physical work. Whether it’s working in the garden, fixing something around the house, helping with guests, or cooking for the team - I’m always happy to contribute.

We both have volunteered several times at children/teenagers retreats, have driver’s licenses and can promise hard work, willingness to help and and a good work ethic💪
By now we've collected olives in Crete🏞 and either helped renovating an old manor house (Olek)🏚 or cooked for the whole team (Maja)🥘 in Germany.
