Hello everybody!

We are Maaike and Pim, a couple from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In January 2024, we started a one year trip through Latin America. We are starting in Mexico and slowly traveling towards Patagonia, without a very set plan on where we want to be at which point, which makes our schedule very flexible. We are both very experienced travellers, having visited, studied and lived in several continents.

Here a little bit about each of us:

Maaike (31) is half Mexican half Dutch and speaks fluent Spanish, Dutch and English. She works in Marketing & Communications and has a lot of experience in the non-profit sector. She is very outgoing and active, loves the outdoors and anything related to hiking and camping, as well as painting, weaving and learning about all types of art. She is really interested in learning more about permaculture and sustainable farming.

Pim is a full Dutchy, is learning Spanish and is aiming to become fluent over the course of this year. He is a psychiatric nurse, in the past years he has worked in a team that helps homeless people who need psychiatric and social support. He loves to cycle, hike, be outdoors, loves music, he tries to play the piano sometimes.

We are two very easy going people, open to learning new skills, meeting people from all walks of life and definitely not afraid of getting hands dirty. We want to have several WorkAway experiences throughout this year in different places and of different lengths. Given our flexible timeline, we are not picky regarding dates!

Maaike has skills in content and website creation and generally in everything Marketing, so could definitely assist in that. She paints and is overall quite creative and also has experience with gardening.

For his job as a psychiatric nurse in Amsterdam, Pim is used to work with homeless people with severe mental illnesses. He helped them with getting their life back on track. So you can say that he is good with working with people from all layers of society. As a hobby he cycles a lot, he like to fix his bike himself so he knows a thing or two about that.

We both have a lot of experience working in the hospitality sector, working with animals and know how to cook very well. We are both not extremely handy, but we can definitely fix things around the house by ourselves and we learn fast.
