Description
Dear future hosts,
we are Lukas & Annika, a german couple looking for a workaway between Christmas and the beginning of January ´26.
Experience Lukas:
-For 3 months I worked at a Husky farm in the north of Norway, where I took care of the dogs (feeding, cleaning etc.) , did some practical Work like painting, firewood and some repairs. I also learned to work with dogs and how to drive a dogsled.
-Another 3 months I spend in a community/eco-village in the south of Sweden near Karlstad there my focus was mainly on taking care of the chickens and ducks (feeding, cleaning, collecting and sorting the eggs), preparing firewood for the next winter (cutting down trees and processing them) and other carpentry work. From time to time I also worked in the kitchen of the small cafe, which is run by the community and helped out in the garden with planting new vegetables.
- For 1 month I also did a workaway in Mongolia, where I worked on a small ranch with cows and horses. There I helped with daily tasks like milking and feeding but we also did other projects like planting flowers for selling, catching and branding the wild horses and doing repairs on the ranch and in the neighborhood.
-currently I am working in the Black Forest National Park, where I am taking care of the Konik Horses and doing some forestry work with the chainsaw
I also love to discover new things and to educate myself. Sport, which I prefer to do outside, always brings me to rest and helps me to relax when I am stressed.
Since I am a very open and curious person, I have already been able to gather a lot of impressions on previous trips and broaden my horizons bit by bit, which I hope I can do even better at Workaway.
For my work & travel, I hope to learn a lot about the Scandinavian countries, the culture and nature on site and of course to help the hosts with their work. I would consider myself a quick lerner and I am sure, I can be a helping hand wherever help is needed :)
Experience Annika:
I am a trained landscape gardener and worked for three years in this profession, so I am familiar with practical tasks and know how to plant trees, work with concrete and natural stone, etc. After this, I decided I wanted to learn more about how ecosystems work and also become more involved in nature conservation, so I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in environmental sciences.
I would describe myself as an open, calm and responsible person with a great love for the outdoors and exploring new places. I love traveling with my backpack & tent and getting to new places.
Volunteering so far:
- One month in a community project in the north of Spain, where I mainly build dry stone walls and helped with weeding and household tasks.
- Five weeks on a farm in the south-west of Sweden, where I was working on the veggie field, in the garden and also doing some forestry in the woods with the chainsaw.

Lukas: I like dealing with animals because we have a lot of animals at home (horses, a cat, chickens, etc.), which I have often looked out for over several days alone. So I am very familiar with dealing with animals and I know the everyday tasks that animals and the surrounding life bring with them.

The farm is lovely located next to a lake, about seven kilometers from the village and in winter time the lake freezes and you can go take a sauna or drive around on the ice with the snow scooter. The work was also really nice and all according to the description. We worked about five hours a day,… read more
