Description
Hi!
My name is Lucy, I'm 28 and I am from London, England. I'm a Support Worker, but I am currently on a 6 month sabbatical from work (returning January 2024). I'm travelling to the States from 11th October onwards; starting in New York, heading South and finishing in Washington State.
I love meeting new people and travelling to different places. I really enjoy travelling on my own as I find that's the best way to meet others. I'm easy going and always happy to try new things.

What else ...
Six weeks’ worth of volunteering in Cambodia, Nepal and Namibia. Taught English, devoted time and financial support to Cambodian children at the Provincial Orphanage Centre and the Floating Village Project. Through VCD (Volunteer Community Development) Nepal, lived at an orphanage taking care of the needs of the children. Lastly volunteered at Naankuse and Neuras, which are a wildlife Sanctuary and Carnivore Conservation Research project that help protect Namibia’s vulnerable wildlife. Took part in carnivore feeds, enclosure cleaning, food prep, border patrol and game counts.
Stayed with a Work Away family for 5 weeks over the summer in Alberta, Canada in 2016. Looked after their two-year-old girl, while carrying out jobs around the farm, such as maintenance, as well feeding and caring for their many animals. I enjoyed it so much I was invited back to Alberta by my hosts to stay with them again over the Christmas holidays, for a month.
Five weeks of volunteering in Leros for the refugee aid project the EchoHUB, founded by the NGO Echo100plus. The aim of this centre is to provide services to prepare and support adult refugees facing difficult challenges of migration and integration. My role consisted of helping with the daily running of the Hub’s logistics such as; registering students, organising clothes donations, running classes and activities, for instance football, arts and crafts, swimming etc. We additionally held a women’s day once a week at the hub, putting on activities for them to enjoy such as cooking and dancing. Some more information
