Passionate about travel and new experiences, we love immersing ourselves in different cultures and learning from others what it truly means to live in a country far from our own (UK). Aura and I bring a well-balanced mix of skills and experiences, thanks to our highly diverse backgrounds.

I am a computational chemist with over 15 years of experience working across various institutions—from universities and academic organizations throughout Europe to industrial companies, primarily in the UK. To support my studies, I also worked in several other sectors, including hospitality, tourism (as a guide alongside Aura), and in packaging and logistics.

Aura holds a BA in Theatre Studies and has hands-on experience in the theatre world, having worked as a props maker, stagehand, and alongside painters and carpenters in set design workshops—gaining a broad range of DIY skills. She also has gardening experience, including tasks like pruning, cutting, and potting plants. Her background includes work in hospitality and tourism, and she has a real passion for cooking.

Italian is our native language, but after living in the UK for the past eight years—and with my PhD completed in English—we both speak English fluently. Aura also speaks intermediate German, though she’s a bit out of practice, and we’ve both been learning Japanese for the past year and a half, now at a basic level. In addition, our professional paths have equipped us with solid computer skills.

What else ...

We both really enjoy board games and have recently gotten into a simple but engaging collaborative card game called The Mind—we love playing it whenever we get the chance! We also know a few fun dice games. Music, movies, and photography are other passions we share—we love capturing moments from our travels and everyday life.

Spending time in nature is something we truly value, whether it’s going for a hike or just enjoying the outdoors at a slower pace. I’m also very into sports—pretty much any kind—but football (the UK kind!) is my favourite, and I jump at any chance to play.

Aura has a creative side and enjoys making floral arrangements with whatever flowers she finds nearby. It’s one of the ways she loves to connect with the beauty of her surroundings.
