  • Description

    Hello !

We are Lorena and Graham, our little French Bulldog Elsie, and our old campervan George, and we are looking for our next adventure!

I (Lorena, 33) have been travelling through the UK and Europe in my home on wheels for a few years now. I am originally German, grew up in France, and have lived in the UK for more or less 10 years, and travelled all over Europe. I am fluent in French, German and English, and speak conversational Spanish and Italian, and a tiny bit of basic Estonian. I love learning new languages and exploring new cultures!
I am a very active and outdoorsy person, and spend a lot of time out in nature, on walks, exploring new places etc. I also love reading, painting, music, any kind of arts and crafts, cooking, baking and socialising (amongst other things). I love animals, and have a lot of experience with dogs (a passion I discovered through Workaway, when I got the opportunity to look after 50+ sled dogs 5 years ago).
Professionally, my background is hospitality and catering. I studied at hospitality school in France, and spent the next 10 years working in restaurants, bars, hotels and conference centres, mostly in management positions for food & beverage, conference & banqueting, and housekeeping. I also worked an office job as an event planner for about a year and a half, but I'm happier on my feet and outdoors, so ended up leaving my career behind a little while ago to join the food truck industry, working at events all over the UK during the summer season, and travelling/workawaying through the winter. I currently work remotely as a travel agent, which is a very flexible job that I can easily fit around other projects.

Graham (33) and Elsie have joined me earlier this year, and have settled very nicely into the vanlife with me.
Graham, like myself, is an animal-lover and adventure-seeker, and alongside myself, is also eager to apply his skills and experience to an exciting Workaway opportunity. He has three A-Levels in English Literature (A*), History (A) and German (A), an EPQ Dissertation in Political Psychology (A), as well as a BA Hons Degree in English from the University of Exeter, where he graduated in 2013. He was born in South Africa and grew up in the UK, and after graduating he went back to South Africa to work as an investigative journalist to research and report on wildlife trafficking and the poaching of rhinos.
His passion for wildlife and the environment has fuelled his work and also ignited his love of ecological, cultural and geographic diversity, which is what motivates his aspirations now. His pursuit of truth and hidden knowledge has led him to spend time with both the Zulu and San tribes in South Africa, and also with the anti-poaching units protecting Africa's wildlife in the bushveld.
He is an active, adventurous and motivated person who enjoys scuba diving and hiking, and who has completed assault courses, marathons and bungee jumping. He has skills in carpentry, masonry and landscaping and experience in hospitality, sales and marketing as well. He is also fluent in English, Afrikaans and Zulu, and can speak conversational German and Spanish, with a desire to learn as many languages as possible.

Elsie is nearly 3 years old, and is a very sweet and affectionate little soul with humans. She is a little hit and miss with other dogs, but is happily kept on the lead and never goes unsupervised. She is fully house - (and campervan!) trained, loves to play and cuddle, and never causes us any trouble.

Not forgetting George, a 32 year old Renault Traffic campervan I've imported from France. Despite his age he is still going strong, with little pains and aches here and there. He has reliably accompanied me on my travels, all around Europe and the UK.

Now the hectic summer season is nearly over, we finally have the time to think about our autumn and winter plans. Our combined background and experience (hospitality, animal care, media, writing, carpentry, childcare etc) mean that we can help out with a variety of projects. We are always happy to learn new skills and love meeting new people, and are always respectful of personal space and boundaries. We are a happy, energetic and highly motivated couple, and together we make a dynamic and tenacious team.

Of course, wherever we go we need to be able to take our campervan and our little four legged friend. If you think we would be a good fit for your home and projects, feel free to get in touch, we look forward to hearing from you!
