I'm Lily, originally from Dublin but have been living along Ireland’s wild west coast for the past three years- first in Sligo, spending my free time surfing and hiking, then West Cork working on building projects, and now in the heart of Connemara National Park, Galway.
Although I work remotely as a software engineer (space industry), I spend as much time as possible out hiking or camping or involved in creative and DIY projects. I am most at home outdoors surrounded by nature, exploring, creating, and connecting.
I’m taking a break from my career in tech to focus on traveling, meeting new people, and contributing to meaningful and creative projects. I am drawn to experiences that bring people together and leave things better than how they were found, whether that’s through conservation, creative projects, or just lending a hand wherever it’s needed. I practice yoga and mindfulness daily, which enables me to stay present and open to these opportunities.
My experience ranges from renovating a very old derelict townhouse, building immersive art installations for festivals, curating unique music and art events in aid of charity, creating art and decor for weddings, child minding, and farm work. I am also hugely passionate about animal welfare, and am a photographer/videographer by hobby.

- Farm: Spent much of my childhood on a farm and have helped with farm work in a previous Workaway. Am comfortable with the general tasks this lifestyle requires, as well as constant exposure to farmyard animals and horses.
- DIY and Art: I am in a music and arts collective and have been building immersive art installations for events and festivals for the last three years. Demolished an old derelict house and helped in renovating it from the ground up. Fixed up a campervan including rust repair, mechanics and interior. Proficient in handling power tools.
- Baby, home and animal sitting: Extensive experience both from my time in Ireland and in Berlin.
- Tech: I am a lead software engineer, so full stack computer science skills including web development, backend, AI and machine learning, databases etc (I am taking a break from this, but happy to help if needed)
- Public relations/ events: My friends and I organise events and festivals, often for charitable causes that are close to our hearts. I was the public relations officer and photographer for UCD sub-aqua club, Ireland's largest scuba diving club. Also a committee member of the Philosophy Society and the Greek & Roman Civilisation societies (I studied these subjects in University before diverging into computer science).

- Charity work: Asal Ireland, a sanctuary for neglected donkeys; Clean Coasts, regular beach cleans for the reduction of ocean pollution; Hanley Centre, dedicated to facilitating recovery for alcoholics; PCRF; Ethical Intelligence, a start up for consulting tech companies on how to build more ethical technological solutions.
