Hi, my name is Leonardo. I am a 22-year-old who recently graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Society. There are many reasons why I want to take on a challenge through Workaway. I am fascinated by the idea of meeting new people, experiencing different cultures, and discovering new ways of living. I also want to significantly improve my English skills.

I am very sporty and love long hikes in the mountains and swimming in the pool. I am passionate about nature and animals. I consider myself a sociable person and enjoy spending time with others. I believe that being around people with different perspectives and listening to various life stories can help one grow immensely.

I am a versatile person who has acquired a diverse range of skills and experiences over the years. During my studies in Communication and Society, I developed strong communication skills and learned how to work effectively in a team. I also have a good understanding of social media and digital marketing strategies.

In addition to my academic skills, I have practical experience in museum work. I currently work at Castello Sforzesco, a renowned castle and museum in Milan, Italy. Here, I have gained experience in managing visitors and handling customer service in the museum's bookshop, where I have learned to run a small shop selling books and souvenirs.

I am a reliable and responsible individual, capable of adapting to various situations and quickly learning new skills. I enjoy working outdoors and am not afraid to get my hands dirty. I appreciate well-organized work and take pride in completing tasks efficiently, which gives me a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.

I am always ready to contribute and learn from my hosts and the people I meet along the way. I am a native speaker of Italian and Spanish, but my English is quite basic. I am eager to embark on this journey to improve my English skills.

From the very beginning, Catherine welcomed me warmly, and I immediately felt at home. She’s always helpful, kind, and respectful, and ready to explain anything with clarity and patience.

Catherine is a lovely person, and chatting with her is always enjoyable and stimulating.
Her home is a true work of art. For someone like me, who’s not used to living in such a unique environment, it was an incredible discovery. Surrounded by greenery, the house offers a deep sense of peace. If you're looking to escape the noise and chaos of the city, this is the perfect place.
The garden is huge and absolutely stunning—probably the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. When the weather is good, spending your afternoons there relaxing after work is pure bliss.

Catherine often hosts more than one Workawayer, which is definitely a plus: it’s the perfect opportunity to meet new people, socialize daily, and discover other cultures in addition to the Irish one. I personally had the pleasure of meeting Cindy, a girl from France, and I’m grateful for the beautiful moments we shared together.

If one of your goals is to improve your English, there’s no better place. Catherine always helped me by gently correcting my mistakes, and there are countless opportunities for long, engaging conversations with her and her friends. Plus, if you manage your time well, you’ll have plenty of space to study on your own.

Catherine is full of energy and involved in so many activities. She always invited me to join her: we went to the pub with her friends, where I met amazing people with fascinating stories; we had a gardening party where the house was filled with wonderful guests to work and talk with—it was truly unforgettable. We also went to church, and I got to try bell ringing for the first time—something I found surprisingly fascinating.
In addition to all that, Catherine constantly suggested new things to do, both with her and independently, and she often offered me lifts by car to explore the area.

The work mainly involves gardening. I was lucky to enjoy warm, sunny days and spent a lot of time outdoors. Every task was explained clearly and thoroughly by Catherine, who often worked alongside us. The working hours were always respected—five hours a day—and Catherine made sure we never went beyond that, which I really appreciated.
I never had any difficulties with the tasks, and I always had fun while learning a lot. By the end of the month, thanks to her guidance, I had gained knowledge that I’m sure will be useful in the future.

I’m probably forgetting something—of course, something positive—because honestly, there were no negative aspects at all.

I want to sincerely thank Catherine for welcoming me into her home and making this unforgettable experience possible. You’ll always have a place in my heart, and I hope I managed to return even a fraction of the kindness you showed me.

I highly recommend this experience to anyone reading this review. For me, it was incredibly important and played a key role in my personal growth.

I spent two and a half months with Carmel, and it was an amazing experience. I couldn’t have asked for a better host. From day one, she was incredibly kind and made me feel comfortable right away. Carmel is one of the most generous and caring people I have ever met. She treated me like family, and I felt at home from the start.
These two months… read more with Carmel were extremely important to me. I’ve grown so much during my time here, and Carmel has been a huge inspiration. She is an incredibly hard worker, fully dedicated to her passion, and it shows in everything she does. I truly believe I’ve learned a lot from her, and this period has been a significant and enriching time in my life.
Despite her busy schedule, Carmel always made sure I had everything I needed. She frequently asked if I needed anything—whether it was food, a ride, or anything else. She also took me on several tours around Ireland, showing me the history of the places we visited and explaining everything in detail. It was a fantastic way to learn about Irish culture and history.
One of my main goals during my stay was to improve my English, and Carmel helped me tremendously. We had countless conversations on a wide range of topics, and she often taught me new words, phrases, and expressions. This has been incredibly helpful in improving my language skills.
I also had the pleasure of looking after Carmel’s wonderful dogs, Reilly and Toby. They are both incredibly sweet and gentle dogs, each with their own unique personality. Spending time with them was truly enjoyable—they are calm, loyal, and great company. I really appreciated the quiet moments we shared, whether we were simply relaxing together or enjoying walks around the property. Reilly and Toby became such a comforting part of my daily routine, and I’ll always remember the warmth and companionship they provided during my stay.
As for the house, it was just perfect. My room was incredibly comfortable, and I’ve never slept in a bed so cozy. The house, nestled in the heart of the countryside, is absolutely beautiful. As soon as you step into the garden, you feel completely immersed in nature, with a 360-degree view of the lush green Irish fields. I was also very lucky to have such great weather during my stay, with many sunny days that made the garden even more enjoyable to spend time in.
It's only been three days since I left that beautiful home, and I already miss it terribly. Carmel was always so thoughtful, even offering me rides to Clonakilty and Cork. Clonakilty is a charming town, full of colors and wonderful people. I had the chance to chat with locals at my favorite café, Revel, where Carmel would often drop me off so I could enjoy a delicious cappuccino in the company of friendly faces. The town is also full of quaint little shops where you can find a wide range of lovely things.
If you’re looking for a truly memorable experience and a host who makes you feel at home, I highly recommend Carmel. I couldn’t have asked for a better Workaway experience.
