Description
Hello everyone,
I'm Barbara, a 35 year old French backpacker currently living in Australia.
I've been working as a (pastry) chef for the past 15 years and I also have a lot of experience with kids (in school, summer camps and as a nanny).
I love reading, being in nature, spending time with animals and discovering new cultures and ways of living.
Over the years, I've taken part in a few volunteer projects :
- I've hosted refugees and asylum seekers (from Syria, Tibet, Guinea...) trough JRS Association.
- Fostered cats and kittens for Shepparton Animal Rescue.
- Cooked and helped distribute meals to people in need with Ernest Restauration Solidaire and Le Carillon
- Helped to organise festivals and local music events (I-Scream Asso, JMP Prod ...)
- And I've been a regular blood donor since I turned 18
I'm currently travelling with my partner Léo (27 yo) . He's a soccer coach and passionate about all kinds of sports. He also has experience in hospitality, cleaning, gardening, and has worked in aged and disability care.
We are looking for new opportunities to volunteer, especially with animals, or to learn more about permaculture and sustainable living ...
Looking forward to sharing good times and giving a hand where we can !

More details about your skills
First of all : We always try to bring a positive attitude wherever we go !
We are friendly, easy going and hard workers. We learn quickly and enjoy being part of a team, but we are also happy to take initiative and work independently when needed.
Our experience in hospitality made us reliable cleaners, and helpful assistants in a kitchen.
We also worked during eight months in a farm so we're not afraid of physical work or getting our hands dirty.

We worked with a wide variety of animals in a beautiful setting, enjoyed a fantastic team atmosphere, and were accommodated in a lovely cottage with a chimney, located just in front of the horses’, sheep’s, and deer enclosures.

This sanctuary specialises in wombats, and our main mission was to finish the wombatorium, which we successfully completed! We also built a fence in the sheep enclosure for the car park. Most of the work involved painting and building… read more
