  • Description

Hi there! I'm Zay and I am looking for some travel, culture, connection and adventure. I have lived in New York City for 18 years and enjoyed extensive travel for both personal and professional endeavors. Most recently I was forced to temporarily close my private wellness and movement therapy studio in Manhattan when Covid hit. The timing feels right for me to take some extended time away—learning and working with my hands, leaning a bit deeper into present moment and meeting new people.

  • More details about your skills

Pilates, Meditation, Nutritious Movement // I first moved to New York to pursue a career in dance. I have always loved movement at a cellular level. I currently own my own somatic movement and Pilates studio in NYC. And I previously worked and lived as a wellness specialist and Pilates teacher at a luxury resort in Turks and Caicos for 4 months in 2019.

Graphic Design and Branding // I started with custom jobs for friends in 2004—creating menus, wedding invitations, stationery and personalized event favors and my business grew steadily by word of mouth. I still do freelance web design (squarespace and word press), social media marketing, logo design, etc...

Events and Wellness Retreats // I've helped build two event companies in NYC from the ground up—having a hand in every aspect of development and production from building online registration to marketing and design, to acting as emcee to handling celebrity talent and dealing with customer service. I had many years of loading huge production trucks and building event stages. I've also had the opportunity to plan, travel and consult many properties looking to host retreats as well.

Death Doula and End of Life Educator—Most recently I completed a study in End of Life work and Death Midwifery. Despite the name this work, in essence, is life work. And a lot of that work is helping folks access, remember and trust their own innate wisdom. To be a strong back and soft front, an anchor in the room. Death Doulas can be an advocate for someone who is nearing death, they can be a resource for a family who is dealing with understanding options and logistics of end of life plans, at home funerals, green burial options, life legacy work, and post death affairs and legalese. They can simply sit vigil, heat up a dinner and walk the dog. My intention for this study came from a genuine longing from my heart to go a bit deeper, regardless of what may come of it, even just to engage my own mortality more openly and live with greater comfort in regards to death.
