Description
Hi! We are Laura and Nikolai, a Swiss-Ecuadorian couple currently traveling through South America. After spending one year on the road in a VW van exploring Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, Paraguay, and Bolivia, we’re now excited to slow down and connect more deeply with local communities and nature. We both live in a shared house in Switzerland and enjoy working with others, sharing experiences, and contributing to meaningful projects. We’re currently in Colombia, looking forward to new encounters and the chance to both give and grow through volunteer work.
Laura is 36 years old, a certified Hatha and Yin yoga teacher, and a trained social worker from Switzerland. She’s fluent in German and English and can now comfortably communicate in Spanish. Laura has a strong interest in community living and sustainability. She enjoys gardening, cooking (especially vegetarian meals), and loves spending time outdoors—whether it’s hiking, swimming in rivers, or camping. Back home, she takes an active role in the shared vegetable garden and thrives in teamwork settings. Laura is open, grounded, and motivated to contribute wherever support is needed—be it gardening, cooking, painting, or building—and she is especially passionate about teaching yoga as part of the experience.
Nikolai is 43 years old, originally from Ecuador, and has lived in Switzerland for over two decades. He speaks Spanish, German, English, and French fluently. With a background in IT support and experience living in shared communities, he feels comfortable communicating and collaborating with a wide range of people. He enjoys cooking and is particularly excited about learning how to prepare traditional dishes from the regions he visits. Nikolai is active and enjoys outdoor activities like bouldering, hiking, and whitewater kayaking. He’s especially interested in hands-on, practical work, as well as supporting tourism-related projects, and is always eager to learn new skills.
Through our volunteer experience, we hope to immerse ourselves in rural life and learn more about sustainable living, traditional practices, and community-building. We’re motivated to contribute our skills, energy, and creativity to the places we visit—whether through physical work, cooking, sharing yoga, or simply lending a hand where it’s needed. At the same time, we’re excited to learn from others, exchange cultures, and build genuine connections.
