  • Description

My name is Joan and i'm a wandering jack of all trades, i like to get involved in projects that met my talents in creative ways or that challenge me. I love a good challenge, couldn't imagine life without them, challenge brings to me the chance to learn new skills, improve old ones or simply help me actualize my knowledge about me and the rest of the wild world around me. That said i am quite easy going and adaptable too and i loooove cooking for gatherings of people.
I have always thought that learning has no expire date for a human being so i expect to keep at it for a while! So far, in my experience, it is travelling that brings to me the clearer chances for that learning, its a time that opens me up, makes me aware, awake, eager and curious about life and because by the very quality of travelling i end up confronting the new (new people, new places, new perspectives about life), it is so that i am offered great chances to learn new things - things i was not always expecting-. And i love that.

  • More details about your skills

My top skill is actually self reliance in what i can do (or learn/teach myself to do), and knowledge of what i cannot. In the edge where those two meet i have developed skills i did not have before or furtherly honed basic skills I had. If left to my own devices I am always willing to try new things (witch has always required on my part a certain willingnes to make mistakes and learn from them...) I think i have a very good set of comunication and mediation skills and an inquisitive curious mind coupled with a pair of restless creative hands.
On a more practical note I have several building skills, stone drywalls are my favorite building technique so far, and my next project i would love it to be an A-frame cabin and work with natural logs and wood planks.
I have also used adobe and other mixed techniques (recycling matherials in a more earthship style), I have done roofing and flooring and know some techniques and matherials (wich sadly only work for dry and warm climates) I have done gardening and know permaculture 101 and love the concept of designing before doing, thinking before designing, and observing before thinking (dough I have to admit that I understand stones better than plants), I love leatherworking and carpentry, and in general any situation that forces me to face raw matherials and ask myself what to do with them (and how) really brings out the best in me.
