Description
We are both countryside rangers in Oxfordshire, Lucy is currently working on two National Trails and Mark is looking after a chalk stream. We are both self confessed wildlife geeks and general lovers of the outdoors; hiking, swimming, canoeing, cycling, running, snorkeling and scuba diving. We are looking to take a year or so out from our lives in the UK to try a different pace of life, learn some new skills (we'd love to learn how to better grow our own food, carpentry skills, basic construction etc) and explore the great outdoors and all that nature has to offer. We are interested in a more sustainable future that works with nature and would love to work in projects that align with that.
We have recently completed a 2 month workaway in Canada at a Market Garden, where we carried out gardening, landscaping, cleaning and cooking, all of which we really enjoyed.Interests

More details about your skills
Both of us work in conservation/outdoor work and have studied ecology/zoology. We both have many years of experience in leading teams of volunteers, working in outdoor education outreach and leading guided walks. We both have tickets and experience in using chainsaws, brushcutters/strimmers, off-road driving, driving with trailers, using scythes, hedge laying, fencing, step & gate installation. We also have experience of habitat management (UK specific) and good wildlife knowledge and species ID of UK flora & fauna being involved in a range of species/habitat surveying from freshwater kick sampling to dragonfly surveys to wildflower meadow surveys.
We both love to cook, our DIY and carpentry skills are rustic and we can both paint walls and keep a house clean and tidy. Always happy to roll our sleeves up and get stuck in!Age
