Description
Hi! I’m Kusu. I’m an adventurous person who loves taking on new challenges and adapting to different environments. I enjoy experiencing new cultures and sharing meaningful moments with people from all over the world—whether it’s through food, conversations, or exploring together.
I value discipline and time management, which help me stay focused on my goals. At the same time, I keep an open mind and appreciate flexible thinking.
I hold a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Japan. Instead of working in a lab, I chose consulting because I enjoy talking with people. In Australia, I’ve worked in a salad factory for 9 months to extend my visa, as well as in bartending, bakeries, delivery, and construction. Growing up, my grandfather taught me DIY skills, so I’m confident with gardening and carpentry.
Cooking is also one of my passions—I love preparing Japanese food for friends, as well as recreating fine dining pasta dishes. From my martial arts background, I learned the importance of discipline and “leaving places better than you found them,” which shaped my approach to cleaning and organizing.
Hobbies & Lifestyle
I enjoy surfing, movies, music, and road trips. I lived in the Gold Coast for 1 year and 7 months, choosing to immerse myself in an English-speaking environment instead of relying on other Japanese. My housemates came from Argentina, Spain, Uruguay, Chile, and the UK, and I even began learning Spanish from them. I loved their emotional and family-oriented culture—weekends often meant BBQs, beach gatherings, music, and sharing mate together.
At one point, I worked triple shifts—up to 15 hours a day—for two months to save up for a road trip. I traveled through Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Uluru, and Canberra, mixing in a surf trip along the way. The landscapes were beautiful, but what truly mattered was meeting people, exchanging values, and learning more about Australia’s history and culture.
What I’m Looking For
Through Workaway, I hope to meet more inspiring people, deepen my understanding of Australian and other cultures, and improve my language skills. I’d also like to gain new experiences in different types of work while contributing with the skills and knowledge I already have.
I want to live every day with joy, purpose, and full energy—and I look forward to sharing that with the people I meet.
